Default question about 1.85:1 aspect ratio
sorry if this question was already asked. i couldnt find one exactly like it.
might be a dumb question but can anyone tell me why a movie filmed in 1.85:1 ratio will play with the black bars on my dvd player but play without black bars on my blu ray player. i feel as though im missing the action on the sides because there are no black bars. i went through all the blu ray settings and have it on letter box and 16;9. am i missing something? i prefer the black bars on the top/bottom of the movie for the wide screen cinematic effect.
