I have to agree that some of the hd dvd's look nice....but both my original HD-A1 and my much newer RCA player have had video playback freeze ups....blank screen, lip sync issues, hdmi errors and player freeze.

My RCA does not have the analog hum or static popping sounds that my original HD-A1 had....and it has less frequent freeze ups ect.

I am impressed....but its worth noting that hd dvd's that are highly rated for P/Q...are all reference sd dvd's also....which was a smart move on the part of these studios.

Also those that never owned D-vhs will be even more impressed as The Rundown and U-571 look pretty much exactly like they did with MPEG-2 based D-vhs.

I own Seabisquit, and it looks great.....but not one hd dvd title has bettered my reference standards of I Robot, Man on Fire or X Men 2 on d-vhs...so I will be looking forward to seeing these Fox titles on BD....hopefully soon.
