Regardless of our individual preferences regarding subs vs. dubs, I think there's one english dub that we can all agree, greatly improved upon the original work:

This allows Funimation to acquire anime titles for all of the regions where Funimation/Wakanim/Madman operate in. Crunchyroll is now part of Funimation Global Group.

Aniplex of America has remain separate from Funimation Global Group, although many Aniplex of America titles have since been exclusively licensed to Funimation Global Group (along with many other Aniplex titles not managed by Aniplex of America). So Sony is largely unified on the overseas anime licensing and distribution front.

Despite the recent shutdown of AnimeLab in favor of expanding Funimation's service back into AU/NZ, Madman Anime still has the ability to license titles that are licensed to other distributors in North America and the British Isles, such as Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Ah I see, there's a lot going on there I didn't know about. Makes sense though that Madman can licence stuff here in Australian that Funi and whoever can't get in NA; Madman is like the only anime distributor here, rip. There was Siren Visual, but they went dark years ago, idk what happened to them. Hanabee is still around I guess, though they mainly do like board games and merch stuff now, it's weird. They did just recently release the new Lupin III movie here, but other than that they haven't been releasing much anime, which sucks cause they were the Monogatari distributor here. Last thing they released was Owarimonogatari part 2, but after that I've had to import the UK releases, which don't match what I've got, I hate it.

Madman being essentially part of Funimation now though does make some things make sense. For the few years they've just been straight up importing the American releases here for certain titles, no new packaging or anything. Which is awful because Australian law says we need our age ratings on the covers, but because we don't get our own packaging, they're just putting them on as stickers. These use to be on the original plastic wrap which was fine, but recently I got something that came with a cardboard sleeve and it was stuck on the cardboard, ruining it. Why are they like this.
Also, long running series have inconsistent packaging now. First 2 seasons of Attack on Titan I got were Australian limited editions, but season 3 we got the American one, which fits with the first American releases, but doesn't match ours. This stuff annoys me greatly.

Sorry for the weird rant.

Everybody’s got an opinion. Unfortunately, some are expressed more strongly than others. It’s okay to like dubs. A good percentage of us were exposed to anime through their English counterparts. There are some things I can’t watch without the dub. For instance, The Big O just isn’t quite the same without Steve Blum and Lia Sargent as Roger Smith and R. Dorothy Wayneright respectively. The same goes for Michael Keaton’s portrayal of Porco in… you guessed it, Porco Rosso! Don’t let people dictate or suck the joy out of the things you like.

Just don't watch Revolutionary Girl Utena dubbed. Doesn't matter where your allegiance lies, taking that path leads to personal doom.

Thanks for the response guys. I was mostly kidding about feeling bad. I absolutely enjoy both subbed and dubbed anime and I am aware there are plenty of others that do as well. The philosophy I’ve adapted to is that they both have something to gain from the experience, and I really feel that you get the most out of it if you expose yourself to both the literal and localized interpretations. After watching fansubbed anime back in the day (Naruto and Bleach) and then watching the English dubs there were some things I’d recall and think “ooh, that’s what they were trying to say.” It (only slightly) stings when people state their opinions on subbed being the better option, especially when they suggest dubs are okay but say, “but we ALL know who’s superior here” or “aww that’s cute, but you really don’t know what you’re missing out on.” It’s like this mentality that people who watch subbed are more cultured or purists about it or something.. I’m probably projecting a bit though…. In any case it only shaves off the tiniest bits of my soul.

The two Eva dubs are interesting even though the adv dub is uncut, the voice work is hooky and campy while the Netflix one was supervised by Japan and follows the sub closer.

FFS, it shouldn't even matter.

Just watch and enjoy what YOU want to, no need to worry about someone else. There may be valid reasons for your preference, but whatever someone else is into should not be any of your concern, should not impact your interests, nor should you feel the need to try and justify your preference. Nobody needs an excuse to like what they like. Let people be. Honesty, it feels like some who choose to make a big deal over it are simply just seeking attention or need some sort of validation. If we are able to have different views and opinions regarding other things while getting along, then anime should not be an exception.

I was planning on pre ordering this but, no "FLY ME TO THE MOON" no buy.

So is there any reason not to get the Japanese release at this point?

Man, all this copium going around here, just as long as it's
1) Accurate to the original script
2) Makes the original dialogue sound natural without deviating too much
3) Get some Good @** actors for the roles and make them pour their heart out.

I regularly watch Akira dubbed with the 2001 track, it's a damn good dub and that means I can watch it with friends and appreciate the animation more. Plus the hypersonic mix is rather stinky (wish the JP 2.0 made it to the west, FUNI!).
I do recommend that people watch anime subbed, but if you have dyslexia or some other disability? Watch it dubbed, it isn't your problem if you have a disability.

1) Not English-friendly. The menus are readable, but no subtitles or dub are present.

2) The lowest-cost version is $161 shipped to the US via Amazon Japan. That's $100 more than the 5-disc regular version from GKIDS.

[Show spoiler]Expensive and you'll need to rip that MF'er to add english subs for your own use.

Bro, Best Buy is selling this sh** for 40 bucks. At that price, you can probably forgive it's exclusion for the series and the movies in one package. I may not be fond of it, but it's a miracle that this release isn't more expensive when compared to ADV's releases in the 2000's. And so I pre-ordered on BB.

Why do people have so much trouble being able to behave like adults around here, hmm?

Why is this flagrant flamebait allowed to persist on here??
