Not sure if it was mentioned in this thread (apologies if so), but Cliff has pretty much confirmed that 4K UHDs of The Howling (here) and The Fog (here) are coming next year. Probably not a huge surprise given StudioCanal have carried out new restorations for international markets (though obviously these two reside with MGM in North America).

The sale is underwhelming for sure. The ones I would be tempted to buy just aren't reduced enough to make it worth while (Eight Legged Freaks, Eyes of a Stranger). The "Sale" price still doesn't beat Amazon in some cases!

I finally got around to watching this last night and I enjoyed this transfer more than the previous 4K release. I like the more natural colors in the Shout Factory release compared to the previous release on 4K. The Dolby Atmos was ok, but nothing really fun to listen to. Overall if I had to pick one 4K Halloween to own I would pick the Shout Factory release.

I would have thought Amazon would have some good Halloween sales on Blu-rays but it's almost non-existent. Bummer. My local FYE hasn't gotten any extra Scream Factory Blu-rays or horror Blu-rays in general. Just regular stuff.

Unfortunately, I waited way too long for this sale. I inevitably ordered The Blob, JC's Vampires, and Halloween II 4K from Amazon, but it looks like they won't arrive until November 1st.

I just watched last night as well. I was not suspecting much from the Audio from when it was made and the type of movie, but did find it very pleasing with Carpenter's score.

Ironically, one thing that now annoys me from this film is the premise - I think most parents would have covered up the initial crime and more blamed the Judith Myers killing on a random killer and that Michael found the knife or was traumatised to thinking he did it. And more on a continuity error from I into II is the extra gunshot at the opening, and that with rare exceptions, a revolver only holds 5 - 6 rounds, so the 7 in II is annoying as well as the difference from I.

Not as annoying as the abomination Halloween Kills was, I'll watch these old classics over and over again before I watch that pile of turd again.

I stopped somewhere after the two Rob Zombie remakes. I skipped Kills, and the other one before it. In general I find JLC annoying and always was more on MM side. Loomis should have plugged Laurie in H1 and them Michael and him could have bonded offer coffee and been buddies.

I mean Laurie is just a despicable person in the end. When being chased by Michael, instead of leading him away, she leads him to Tommy and Lindsey, endangering both of them. Then after she thinks she killed Michael, she wants to send them alone down the street when technically she does not know if Michael is alone, thereby endangering the kids. For me at least, the last time it was interesting was up to 4/5 and thought at least the legacy / Danielle Harris could have been interesting.

She was being stalked by a man who tried to murder her after seeing the corpses of her two best friends and one of their boyfriends decorated around the house. She tried to run into a neighbors house and they wouldn't let her in. Even after retreating to the house with the kids she made them hide separately from her. After she had seemingly incapacitated the intruder, she felt it was safe for them to come out and sent them along to a place where they would be safe from him and could call for the authorities.

So you think Michael is in the right and Loomis should have helped Michael kill laurie, and that michaels parents should have covered up his murder of his sister. You really have a thing against women huh?

If you're trying to protect kids, you have to be there to protect them. For all she knew he would have gone to the house and killed them while she ran away.

Yeah, would've loved to have seen what Laurie Stroud would have done.

Laurie Strode, however, was a good babysitter who protected the kids she was supposed to be taking care of.
