Since it doesn't have its own thread, wanted to post my thoughts on Shakedown, which I got today and just watched.

It's very good, there are strong shades of things to come of Ace in the Hole, which came out a year later. I am surprised this film isn't better known; it doesn't appear to have ever had a prior home video release of any kind.

Picture is good but not great - some speckling throughout the movie, but not too horrible. Especially bad are the very dark scenes at the start of the movie, where Howard Duff is being chased through a railyard (during the daytime, so no excuse for the darkness), the scene is so dark that the lettering on the boxcars cannot be read at all. But after the first 10 minutes or so, it improves. Very much worth a look, not only for noir fans, but also for fans of the 'cynical journalism' type of film, of which there were several noirs covering.

Well, here's the haul!

Nice to see someone picking up "The Man in the Glass Booth". Maximillian Schell gives a truly unhinged, gloriously entertaining performance in that film. It really deserves to be seen by more people. The movie has flaws, but Schell is absolutely incredible in it.

They're included, but very selected ones. The December sales included a couple of dozen titles, this one less.

DVDs sold better in the print catalog, they don't do well through the website.

The first page of the sale includes one, The 300 Year Weekend.

Very few left, so buy it while you can. We renewed the DVD rights, so only the BD will go out of print.

My March/April sale order came in missing 4 of my 13 titles. Anybody ever encounter missing titles on an order? I've filled out a contact form on the website. Tried calling first but wasn't sure which extension to use. Hoping for a good outcome.

UPDATE: They resolved it within 15-20 minutes of filling out the form.

I'm curious - does KL usually sell more of a DVD, or of a blu-ray? In the general market, DVD's lead, but blu-rays tend to sell for boutique labels, so, I'm genuinely curious.

(I also wonder how 4K will fair with DVD/blu-ray/4K simultaneous releases)
