@ KL Insider

I couldnt find anyone having asked this, but here goes.

Since you released a Kino version of some of the films that were previously on the Shout Vincent Price Collection (The Dr Phibes films, Masque of the Red Death, Last Man on Earth) is there any chance you could release House of Usher, Pit and the Pendulum and Haunted Palace? The Price set is obscenely expensive and I dont want every film on it, I would buy the Poe cycle films I dont have one by one if you offered them.

We did not release Masque, Shout gave that one a standalone release, when they renewed the titles on VP volume 1.

The others you mentioned are still with Shout, so we cannot release them.

George Clooney (Ocean’s Eleven) and Jennifer Lopez (Hustlers) ignite the screen in this criminally cool crime caper from director Steven Soderbergh (The Limey). Meet Jack Foley, the most successful bank robber in the country. On the day he busts out of jail, he finds himself stealing something far more precious than money… Karen Sisco’s heart. She’s smart. She’s sexy. And unfortunately for Jack, she’s a Federal Marshal. Now, they’re willing to risk it all to find out if there’s more between them than just the law. Screenwriter Scott Frank (Get Shorty) earned an Oscar nomination for his slick, snappy script based on the novel by Elmore Leonard (Jackie Brown). The stacked cast includes Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), Don Cheadle (Hotel Rwanda), Dennis Farina (Manhunter), Albert Brooks (Lost in America), Nancy Allen (Dressed to Kill), Catherine Keener (Being John Malkovich), Isaiah Washington (True Crime), Steve Zahn (Rescue Dawn), Paul Calderon (King of New York), Luis Guzmán (Boogie Nights), Viola Davis (Fences), Wendell B. Harris Jr. (Road Trip) and uncredited cameos by Michael Keaton (Batman) and Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight).

KL Insider,

I messaged VCI if they had any Blu-Ray plans for the two Clayton Moore Lone Ranger feature films, and they said they're both with Universal and not under license to them anymore.

I know you can't comment on specific titles as to whether or not you have them, but just wondering if these would even be titles that would interest KLSC in the first place?

Do we know if the Pelham 4K will be a combo pack? I’d like to just swap out my KLSC “42nd Anniversary Edition” with a combo pack.

Kino Insider - Are A Doll's House (1973) and Dead Cert (1974) still with MGM? Also, are you able to confirm that the 70s Truffaut films are no longer with MGM? Thanks.

You're right, I was thinking of Tomb of Ligeia. Since that means Shout did not renew Vol 2's films, I guess I will get the Kino versions of the ones I am interested in after all. But if they renewed the films off of 1, how was Kino able to do the first Phibes film? Or did they only renew some of them?

I wish Shout would either re-release 1 again or give us individual releases of all of them. Frustrating I can't even watch the Poe cycle films in order.

I also want to know this. I don't have a 4K setup yet but sometimes I go for a combo pack if it's only a few dollars more than the Blu-ray alone.

Unless something's changed Kino still has Blu-ray rights to this. No reason to believe it won't be. This isn't a Touch of Evil situation.

I believe the Insider previously answered that Western films had not performed particularly well for KLSC much as the Insider liked the genre, so I wouldn't hold my breath IMHO.

Possibly the cover art posted was a quick mock-up and not a final version. Usually a combo set indicates 4K UHD + Blu-ray.

Default I Hope, I Hope, I Hope!

KL insider: Still a bunch of classic Bob Hope films out there just waiting for the KL touch! As I understand things, rights belong with Universal, Goldwyn and Paramount (maybe others too?). KL has been on such a fantastic roll with Hope's films I hope you can sustain the momentum with his remaining titles. Thanks for listening and for your phenomenal Blu-ray releases!

It’s from a Disney deal, so I expect every movie there to fall OOP soon.

I am with you on this. I just picked up Monsieur Beaucaire in the sale and look forward to seeing what Hope films are next. I am thinking that they must sell well enough with the way they are putting them out...

The slipcover will indicate if the blu-ray with include the feature. The image they put out, the same as their 4K announcements for Rawhead Rex and High Plains Drifter and is basically the front of the case. It's the same mock up as their other 4K titles sans slipcover.

The Blu-ray is still available on their site and it's not in the WSL section. Unless Kino decides to ditch the Blu-ray for their rereleases then it'll come with it.

One of my favorite movies of the late 1990's! Clooney and Lopez make a magnificent team, and they're given a fantastic script to work with. I've watched my DVD several times, and always walk away feeling entertained. Cannot wait to see it in 4K! Thanks, Kino!
