Shang-chi has been reduced to 6000 jpy. Black Widow is even cheaper.

A single item is around 2000-2200yen, then add 100-200 for ea item. Even if they split shipment the charge doesn't change. |

Sometimes an interactive crowd can be fun. I saw Infinity War with the Daishiki crowd and their screams of joy, and literal tears of dismay, over Black Panther were hilarious. I didn't see that level of unbridled autism on display again until the preview showing of Sonic 2, where 50 year old men and 5 year old kids both cried tears of joy...and the dialogue near the end was drowned out by all the shrill shrieks of excitement. Despite Sega's best efforts, Sonic fandom lives on. Meanwhile, my pals and I were pretty much in a private showing for Shang Chi. If only that film could have captured even an iota of that excitement. ![]() |

It is still one of the most amazing movies that has been released during the pandemic, glad I got to watch it in every premium format available while it was in theaters. Truly, the experience of a lifetime. ![]() |

Just got my copy. Watched the opening scene and the bus fight — this is the first 3D conversion I’ve seen that looks like it was shot natively in 3D — fantastic job, lots of depth and some impressive popouts even. I would never have believed it. I bet even Bob F would be impressed. And, the film itself just happens to be crackerjack too, a win all around.
Are there any other conversion jobs that look this good? |

![]() I'm surprised by this take, as the prevailing one seems to have been that this movie had "mehdiocre" 3D unless seen on a very tweaked setup. |

Most people were saying this was a good conversion which is why I spent the extra time with my setup. If anything it was after removing some extra software processing that Shang-chi now looks great. The most I can say about Shang-chi is that it is setup sensitive. I still don't fully understand why that is the case.

I showed it to some of my normie pals, to further the test as they won't give any "affirmative action" points to the 3D as an aficionado would, and they again walked away with the impression that it was below average from what they have seen. This is not the sort of 3D that will impress the casual viewer. The gist is that in every 3D scene, the conversion only goes 50 to 75% as strong as it should. Depth is only 50 to 75% as deep as it ought to be, popout is only protruding 50 to 75% as far as it should. For good measure, I even watched some of the showcase 3D scenes in slo-mo. This brings me to my issue with popout, none of the scenes featuring it last long enough (again, 50 to 75% of the duration). An example is the Water Map scene. It starts with a field of suspended water particles, a fun depth + pop scene, but then quickly transitions to a depth-only map on the floor. Another issue with popout is that that the 3D converters did not remove the motion blurring that is there for 2D viewers. For example, when "Shang-She" launches her rope dart out at the viewer, in some frames it is slathered in motion blur, which hurts the effect because if it were were really there and our eyes focusing on it, the dart would not be blurred, at least not like that. I believe the word to describe this problem is "verisimilitude", or a lack thereof. In a similar vein, the animation used for the breaking glass shards isn't true to life and the eye notices it. All of this to say that I still like that they tried for the 3D, and the 3D is vastly superior to the 2D version. In the grand scheme of 3D, however, it is a high D to a low C in grade. |
