Hopefully at some point they will, I think it generally relates to if they think they can milk some release out before they license. Still pleasantly surprised we actually got proper BD-3D for the third, definitely would be nice to see some actual extras at some point though.

I agree, that's why I only got he 4k of the first one as I didn't care that much for any of the others.

I would unironically buy all the Jaws sequels again if they were to receive the proper "collector's edition" treatment from one of the more competent boutique labels. New transfers, the original ending reinstated for Jaws: The Revenge (with the option to watch it with either), comprehensive special features including deleted scenes, "making of" documentaries, audio commentaries, etc. for all three. Perhaps even UHD editions rather than BD.

That would make me a very happy boy.

Yep, it's the only approach that makes sense: get the movies you actually like.

Oh, and Noah Hathaway as Atreyu was my first childhood crush (that I can remember).

Yeah, especially compared to some of Universal's later 4K restorations.

I just don't seem the going back to it anytime soon, especially as 4K is supposed to be "the Definitive" presentation, short of having access to an actual DCP to show in your home. The number of titles that have received multiple 4K releases with unique discs can probably be counted on one hand... and the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Ghostbusters.

Prior to this I only had the 3-D Blu-ray release, and the 4k was only $19.95 at Walmart. For a childhood favourite, I'm willing to pay it.

I’ve started rewatching the films before Dominion comes out. For everyone concerned about the Jurassic Park transfer— let me just say it’s not the greatest but it’s not awful. A lot of the film looks really good, and then you get some shots that are a bit too filtered but the overall experience for me was a lot more positive than something like Phantom Menace or probably T2 (which I never watched but I take everyone’s word for).

My guess is that they used the base remaster done for the 3D release, but without Spielberg or the D.O.P supervising it they just color-timed it based on the old releases and got overzealous fudging with some optical shots. It’s not ideal but at this point I’m not sure they’ll be revisiting it again any time soon if ever.

Not sure if it's an offshoot of the 3D projekt, it looks more like they dredged up some old scan of it that just happened to be in 4K and then 'restored' it from there. Reminds me of Waterworld in that respect, that Arrow's 4K remaster seen on their Blu is blatantly a brand new scan while Universal's 4K is different for both framing and geometry.

What’s funny is that for the most part Universal has been killing it with their UHD titles, but then something like this feels like “classic” Universal where they would be cheap and lazy and just take their old masters, maybe slap an extra dash of processing for good measure and put it out.

Ah well. Maybe some other Anniversary down the line they can redo it again, but who knows.

Any chance the individual UHD release will be $10 on Black Friday? I got the set a while back but want the individual release for the box art.

Maybe, maybe not? I could see maybe $15 at least.

My Gruv order finally came, took a week to even move past "USPS awaiting item" and then almost another week for delivery... I expected it to be trashed since my other orders came in the sticky corrugated cardboard mailers, but this was a box. A little beat up, but still a box. JW has a top corner that's kind of bending in a little but it's not a huge deal, it's not a crease or anything and could probably be flattened out if I just had to lol

All of the redone 4K disc I know of are Sony titles, and I suppose you could count something like The Martian also, which had the original theatrical 4K then extended cut later. For Sony it’s Ghostbusters 1&2, The Karate Kid, Labyrinth, and the upcoming Men In Black.

I ordered all five individual releases and of course two of them didn't come with their slips. Annoyed!

Got my copies in with slips. But man, my copy of 3 has so many flaked off spots on the front, not sure if I want to reorder it or just deal with it since it is a silvery artwork for that one anyways.

It's just a wrapper. The important bit is inside.

Can you tell I like this movie?:

Is this current release of Jurassic Park in 4k a new transfer or the same disc that was released in the Jurassic Park 4K Collection in 2018?

All the 4K discs are the same, content wise. You don't have to worry about hunting down remasters.

It would be silly to return a movie just because the slipcover has a minor imperfection. There's nothing wrong with the disc.

Beyond silly. Absolutely ridiculous.

As far as I know its the same transfer / disc as the one from the 5 movie collection from 2019 with the same BR transfer / disc from that same set and all previous BR releases.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Juras...581/#Packaging

No difference, same thing just individually packaged.
