Another foul up by Amazon. They didn't have any copies to sell and my order was cancelled without reason. Amazon, to be fair, offered me another £10 in compensation (not the first time this has happened). So the wait goes on.

We'll start announcing more Sony titles soon.

I’m so thrilled to finally watch this in HD. I almost never pre-order titles, but I may make an exception in this case.

3) Paramount could license the film to Shout Factory, who would likely recycle the same master, add a Collector's Edition banner, throw in some talking heads and call it a day, or
4) License the film to IMPRINT, who will release a nice slipbox but recycle the same dated master

Running theme throughout: No new scan but we'll gain some interviews, perhaps a comic book-y cover and pay through the nose.
You're probably right, but I don't think I'd upgrade unless there was a UHD release with a new scan. I already have the film on VHS, DVD, and Blu-ray, so a release with no new scan would have to have some killer special features to be worth picking up.

A man can dream though!

I wonder if the Children of the Corn sequels went to Paramount since they were Miramax titles like the Hellraiser films? Well as I typed this, I remembered I've seen the re-eleases and they have the Paramount logo on the back.
I wish we could get Children of the Corn 2 in the US with a good transfer and the longer cut.

Was going to preorder the Norris titles and Catch the Heat and noticing the first week August titles are only 33% percent off instead of the usual 40%. Is this going to be the new standard going forward or is this an error? Should I wait a beat?

Are you referring to this rule?

Quote:
The Employer shall advise the Director of a theatrical motion
picture of the schedule for release(s) of the domestic DVD as
soon as determined. Employer shall consult with the Director,
subject to Director's availability, concerning the content of the
DVD release(s) in a timely manner to allow full consideration
of the Director's input.

If a theatrical motion picture has been released domestically in
its original theatrical version on DVD, and a different version
of the motion picture which has not been approved by the
Director is later released domestically on DVD, Employer will
make the original theatrical version released on DVD available
as well. This obligation will be satisfied by any arrangement
which will allow an interested consumer ready access to a DVD
copy of the original theatrical version, (e.g., by allowing
purchase through the studio's catalog).
I couldn't find any rule regarding the needing the directors permission to carry out a new scan.

In regards to the new Paramount deal and the 3D title(s) in the deal, it seems like Flight To Tangier may not necessarily be the hopeless case it was described to be release wise. On the Golden Age 3D thread on this site, after a lot of talk about the restorative challenges plaguing Flight To Tangier (long story short: 3-Strip Technicolor + 3D = Very Expensive Restoration), Bob Furmanek seemingly had this to say about it:

Purchased from the WSL sale:

I wasn’t able to buy anything during the last sale so the recent titles added to this one really helped soothe that disappointment.

Got Flower Drum Song yesterday and watched it later that day. Loved the picture quality and the one Bonus feature we had time to watch. Looking forward to watching the other Bonus features later today. Thanks Kino Lorber!
