Nice with Leviathan!! Kino is knocking it out of the park. Looking forward to more announcements. Kino still puts out some of the best movies on disc.

I still highly recommend The Wanderers to anyone who has not yet seen it. One of my favorite blu ray released.

So 3 more 4K’s to come including 1 x 70’s. Last chance saloon for Thunderbolt and Lightfoot.

Damn! I’m happy for you 4K folks. I’m still hoping someone puts out another standard blu of Leviathan since the Scream one is out of print.

They'll probably release it on standard BD too, or it will be a 4K/BD combo pack. I don't see why they wouldn't.

Looking at 1985, I don't see too many possibilities for titles previously released on Blu, which is interesting given there are 3 in the deal (this perhaps isn't everything, but probably the more realistic candidates):

Pray for Death
Missing in Action 2: The Beginning
A Chorus Line
Invasion USA
Ghoulies
Return of the Living Dead

Return of the Living Dead would surely get the 4K UHD treatment, so we can probably discount that. A Chorus Line too seems an unlikely double-dip. The Kino Insider didn't necessarily rule out the prospect of Kino having the 2 Ghoulies films, so that's possible.

In any case, I'm thinking we're getting a few Chuck double-dips in this deal.

I hope so. This is probably the only way we'll ever get a slip for this movie from KL. It looks so out of place next to the other Eastwood titles.

The Beach Party films have an appeal beyond just nostalgia for the reasons I alluded to previously (the appearance of "Little" Stevie Wonder as a child, Don Rickles, the late career resurgence they brought to Buster Keaton, etc.)

The Beach Party films also appeal to much of the same demographic as the Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine which Kino are seeing fit to re-release.

But, whatever, Kino are dead set against it, so hopefully another label will put the rest of the films out instead. Ideally it would be Olive, but who knows what is going on with them these days. Maybe this new label Sandpiper will take a chance on them.
Not sure how many people purchasing Blu-ray care about cameos they can watch on YouTube for free.

Dr. Goldfoot films stars the incomparable Vincent Price.

Olive released a bunch of them, the only way I can see us releasing the series as a set would be if all the titles were newly restored by MGM and all we had to worry about the guaranteed advance/authoring/replication, but as far as I know, most of them are older HD masters and some are only available in SD.

I could watch every title that Kino has released on the internet for free, that's not really the point is it?

I wasn't suggesting releasing the series as a set, I threw out the idea of putting out the two most prominent ones that Olive did not release as a double-feature. I mean, you put out the three worst films from the Pink Panther series when Shout released all the good ones.

But, really, it's fine. I'm not that invested in it. It's just when you admitted that you misjudged the Thunderbirds, I thought maybe you'd have an open mind about something else that could be of interest to your customers that you potentially also misjudged.

Lol, are you serious? Beach Party movies may outsell the shˇtty Bob Hope films, but they'll never outsell anything starring VP.

Ask Scorpion about their KL co-release of For Those Who Think Young, which I know is not your typical BP movie, but it has an amazing cast (James Darren, Pamela Tiffin, Nancy Sinatra, Bob Denver, Tina Louise, Paul Lynde, Claudia Martin, Ellen Burstyn) and has done horrible numbers.

I love fans who think they know more about sales than labels/studios releasing discs.

I said cameos, if you're really interested in seeing little Stevie Wonder perform a number, you're not buying the disc, you'll watch it and download it from YT.

The three worst PP movies were part of the series and should've been available, you're not seriously comparing BP series to the PP one. Also, all of them were available in HD and I would argue they were not much worse than Trail of the PP.

No, unfortunately, there'll never be a market for these films. And we'll never run out of movies, 10 years from now we'll be releasing special editions of films from they early part of this decade.

Paramount had a deal with Warner Brothers, who was in charge of their library, deciding what to release/re-release. A few years ago they decided to start licensing some of their essentials and simultaneously decided to get back in the home entertainment business, since then they've been the busiest studio releasing catalog titles.

I love this logic. Not every release is a hit, so therefore it follows that the boutique that in 2020 and 2021 released 432 movies/TV shows for the first time on U.S. Blu-ray is not taking enough risks and needs to reconsider titles they’d previously ruled out.

Makes sense to me! @KLI when can dvining expect Hamlet 2 on UHD?
