Well, for one it's a prestige title that has a readily available and done 4k scan. IMO, it's too big of a title for Kino and I just don't see them licensing this one to anyone. Besides, it's the kind of title that the Presents line is made of. I mean, whether it's a significant title, cult, previously unavailable classics or big moneymakers like Flashdance or Fatal Attraction to name a few, this film is certainly on brand. As for the latest announcements (Rough Cut and Back to the Beach), I do agree they have been a bit random. However, if you think about it, they both have their selling points (the former is a Burt Reynolds film making it's blu-ray debut and from a classic director, Don Siegel. While the latter, has the nostalgia factor and built in audience from the original Beach movies). I honestly wouldn't read much into these last announcements, as someone else (MifuneFan ?) pointed out, much like with what happens with WAC, these are probably favorites of whoever is making the decisions at the studio currently.
I could always be wrong though, maybe in the end Kino really does have it? Who knows at this point.
