Just to add Les Miserables is a special 2 disk edition, 1 disk houses the theatrical edition and 1 disk has the extended tv edition

Same as they did with the Michael Caine Jack the Ripper some years ago.

The 1.33 aspect ratio TV version is as broadcast on ITV but assume the widescreen theatrical was where they gave it cinema distribution internationally.

If anyone was thinking of paying full price to ensure they get the booklets worth knowing both are only 8 pages which means because of the cover page you only get 7 pages of text. Not many pictures and pretty dense text but still much less than the Indicator or BFI booklets.

"Les Miserables" as two disk is in a regular UK width case whilst "House across the Lake" is in a US style slim case as Network use for their one disk titles.

Networks booklets are never as substantial as those from Indicator, for example but it’s good that they sometimes make the extra effort to provide them. They’re always well written with plenty of background information.

Having said that I found The House Across the Lake disappointing. I often prefer Hammer’s dramas to their more well known horrors but this is a very talkative film which takes a long time to build up to anything and is very derivative. Neither is Sidney James at all convincing as a financial businessman.

The good selection of extras includes an interesting interview with Renee Glynne who did continuity on the film. Sadly, she died in April at the age of 95.

I don't know if there are any Merton Park fans in this thread, but they may not know that a Scotland Yard film is an extra on House Across the Lake in full HD.

They released COUNTESS DRACULA, TWINS OF EVIL and HANDS OF THE RIPPER a while back...but curiously, not VAMPIRE CIRCUS.

Vampire Circus is/was with another label. I’m hearing rumours said label at least was considering a Blu-ray.

Haven't seen it, so I can't comment. I do know that all of the Rank-distributed Hammer films need new restorations/transfers.

Have checked out the latest offer on Network's website ('Buy One, Get One Free (The British Film'), and am considering getting some of the titles in the offer (including Please Turn Over and Station Six Sahara). The offer ends at "4 pm BST, Monday 4th July" (the end time for the sale I could only find on the article ("Best of British: Buy One, Get One Free") found at the bottom of Network's main website page).

On a separate note, have been tempted into getting the Blu-ray bundle of the four Danziger brothers titles (these sort of TV shows are right up my street).

Finding some odd discount calculations if you mix up 2for1 dvds and blu rays in the basket. Dvd only or blu ray only selections are fine, but almagamations are incorrect.

Saw this yesterday and immediately ordered Honeymoon and The Weapon (was curious to see both when announced, have no excuse at half price).

But then I realised I'm moving house in 10 days and these are coming to my current address...anyone know how long it roughly takes from dispatch to arrival? I've not ordered from Network in a while. If it's a gamble I might cancel (and re-order again just before the offer finishes).

Although the bundle offer still shows up on the Danzigers page, the 10% seems no longer to be taken off from the shopping basket.

IIRC, the bundle offer was supposed to expire in early June which it seems to have done - it's just not reflected on the front page.
