If the UK one is supposed to be sturdier then the other ones must be made of rice paper or something because my UK set was still crushed in various spots. Far flimsier than I thought it'd be.

The Best Buy in my town still has the same 2 copies available that were available after I bought mine on Tuesday. Ditto for the 1 copy available at the store in the town next door and the 2 copies available at the store and hour away from here. Available stock hasn't changed at all in my area.

I know some were miffed that Best Buy didn't have these available for online order and they may have lost some sales by having them in-store only. But I think that was actually probably a smart move considering how flimsy these packages are. They probably would have all been returned for shipping damage anyway.

Looking at the other online sites like Bullmoose, etc. it's still available there too.

I think I'm going to have to revise my earlier prediction: I don't think the CA will sell out in a couple of weeks after all.

I mentioned to friend the other day that if Arrow had produced the physical components of the Deluxe set then it would have been rather epic.

The Dune Deluxe set is pretty spicey, shame we plebs did not get the Ubermensch set, and for the most part feels worth its listing price.

Nice solid outer case, steelbook, UHD & BR, two true minibooks, poster and some picture cards.

Whereas Paramount being cheapasses opted for more flimsy paper based materials and just a 12 page booklet.

5-disc steelbook set with a sturdy outer box and at least one 60-page booklet would have been quite stellar for TMP-DE-TCA. Alas, cheapasses...

As some have posted, the UK case/box is thicker and sturdier than the USA release.

Completely agree.

I think had deluxe release been more like the Arrow Dune release this would have played out differently.

The fact that the regular 4K release was going out of stock in many place after just one day on sale while the "OMG when it's gone it's gone forever and will sell out in preorder it's SOOOOO limited" is still sitting on shelves of most venders clearly says customers think the paper and carboard tat wasn't worth it.

Ugh. Received my copy of the Complete Version from Movies Unlimited and it was flattened. Don't even know what to do.

Where did you order from? I was able to convince Amazon to refund me but keep the damaged set. I ordered a regular 4K version from Target and I'll just swap some discs around. Used the extra money I got back to put in a few other pre-orders.

I ordered from DeepDiscount (essentially same company) and received today in similar condition. They shipped it in what appears to be a box intended to ship vinyl records. Didn't work so well in this case. I was able to mostly press it back into shape, but the cardboard is so thin, it's still a bit noticeable.

My TCA began it's journey on the 4th from Amazon UK. While I'm glad to find out the packaging is more sturdy, I'm beginning to think that paying for the faster shipping and giftwrap won't mean squat once it eventually gets here. I'd like to know how fast the cheaper shipping was compared to the "upgrade." There's always a little scam going on these days.

Ok, strictly specking about the 2 disc Blu-ray set, my understanding is it comes with all the original extras from the old 2 disc DVD set 20 years ago, is that correct? My understanding is (for now) the extended TV cut is only on the 4K, yes? Is the theatrical cut on the Blu-ray, or just the 4K? Thanks.

Go to about the 3 minute mark on this video. He puts Undiscovered Country and Final Frontier on top of the Complete Adventure set.

Yes, I think the Blu-ray Extras disc should be exactly the same across editions and it should include all legacy extras as well as significant new ones. But the "SLV" TV cut is ONLY on "The Complete Adventure" Motion Picture box set -- it is NOT on the regular 4K release of The Director's Edition singular release, nor the six-disc box set. The Theatrical Cut is also NOT on TDE 4K single release, nor on a singular 4K disc, but it IS on a 4K disc within the four and six-disc box sets (and The Complete Adventure set). The Director's Edition single set is a 4K disc for the feature, and a Blu of Extras.

Am I correct Bolty, fellow Trek nerds???

It's a great disc and clearly labels the new and legacy content. I really enjoyed it and it is very complete.

I am curious though....

Are there other movies that are available ONLY in 4K and do not exist at all on 1080p?

Amazingly Trek has two examples of that...

The SLV and TUC DC
Yes, but Milo also seems to think that the single 4K release of The Director's Edition includes the Theatrical on Blu. It does not include that cut at all in the single release...correct? To get the Theatrical on 4K, you have to go for one of the Box Sets. But there IS a Theatrical Cut BLU available separately.

Correct. In the US, either the 4-movie set or the 6-movie set.
I gather in other countries it's in the CA box set, but I can hardly keep the US releases straight so I'm not going try to remember the overseas ones.

Too bad. I'd like to own a copy of all the cuts. Looks like I'll need to buy TMP twice. I enjoyed how the Wrath of Khan had both cuts on the same disc. Shame that's not the case this time.
