Michael Bay - By The Numbers

I actually really enjoy most of Bay's movies. He's not my favorite director as I like action movies that are really plot and character driven, not effects driven, but when it comes to a pure visual experience for the audience, Bay is one of the very best (if not THE best) going right now. Visually, his movies are always really, really cool. His movies are pure, mindless fun, and those types of movies definitely have their place of value. He is what he is though, and he knows it. It's not like he's trying to direct re-makes of Schindler's List or Amistad, or something like that. He sticks to what he's good at, which is....."Awesome". I think people pile on him because it's the "in" thing to do now for couch film critics/snobs.
