I think the most realistic ray of light for the 3D community going forward is VR. VR does actually appear to be pushing studios into making 3D content again, even if just to have for their library coming up. What remains to be seen is if VR can kickstart a 3D TV or glasses free 3D experience at home, but I think what is most plausible is streaming apps having dedicated VR sections, and then enthusiasts making a download or rip of this (as has happened for any content on streaming services ever) and then being turned into a 3D Blu-ray or similar format. I’d prefer if they just sell us their damn movies, but studios seem so averse to doing that these days.

Slightly off topic, although realistically this might be the best chance we have to ever watch this movie in 3D at home.
