I'm sort of in the air on this. On the one hand, I like him as an actor, I find him funny. But, on the other hand, he's already playing Deadpool and has already portrayed Hannibal King (Blade Trinity). I think he's becomming too many comic book characters IMO.

As a long time GL reader and fan I'm pleased with this. Choosing between Deadpool & GL is a no brainer (IMHO), while Deadpool is cool I bet in a year no one outside of comic book people will care about Deadpool. GL has a long history and is more established. Plus with Deadpool being made by Fox who knows if it would ever really happen? At least at this point GL has had a script being worked on for almost 2 years, a credible director attached, and GL is getting a big push by DC right now.

It is amazing to see how everyone has stereotyped this guy so that he can only do smarmy wise-cracking characters and so he isn't a good choice. I say give him a chance, and see what Martin Campbell can do as director. I need to see some of his other movies now, but I for one am quite pleased.

Yes, it appears both threads were merged, AND the first post was heavily edited, which made it a little confusing for a few minutes.

The X-Men related movies have nothing to do with Marvel Studios. Fox bought the rights to them, so they can do whatever they want with them as long as there's a movie made every couple of years.
I still have no idea who this Ryan Reynolds guy is. Haven't seen the Wolverine film or that Sandra Bullock thing. I'm just excited a Green Lantern film is getting made. I love the comic.

I was watching old nickelodeon clips and started watching an old episode of fifteen the other day, was totally blown away when I saw Ryan Reynolds in the show. Never realized he was in that.

So this is the second time Warner has gone after someone connected to a potential Marvel movie. So if true this most likely will force Fox to rush another movie to the big screen. I actually liked Ryan Reynolds as Wade in Wolverine and the thought of him playing Deadpool in the projected movie made me happy. Now this has more then likely squashed....wait a minute, isn't he under contract with Fox for the Deadpool movie? Can anyone confirm?

So Maybe Marvel will go after Routh now (paybacks).

Honestly, I don't see Reynolds doing both roles. Something is going to fall through. Time will tell of course.

I laugh at the example of Halle Berry. Did you guys see Catwoman? If it were Marvel Studios that were involved I can guarantee that they would drop Reynolds for Deadpool if he took the Lantern deal. They're all about continuity at this point. Now, being that Deadpool is a FOX property and FOX doesn't have a clue, we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.

Interesting.

I would imagine that he signed the standard 3 picture deal when he signed on for Wolverine. It seems these contracts are not very binding (or have a lot of outs).

It's confirmed.

Warner hates everything D.C.

It also hates D.C.'s fanbase.

Unless it's Batman or a really crappy Superman movie, they'll run it into the ground before it even gets started.

Color me more of a Marvel fan, but ... Green Lantern?

Never understood the interest in a guy in green spandex with green energy that shoots out of a ring. Not saying that to upset fans, but I hope for Reynolds (given my belief that the film would be a catastrophy of epic proportions, e.g. The Phantom) that he will stay away from this.

Just sayin

I like Ryan very much. He is a very good actor, funny and cool. I'll be happy if he lands the part.
That was back when it was the "Justin Timberlake screen tested for Green Lantern" thread. I was saying if it was JT I wouldn't see the film but the thread changed.

I like Ryan Reynolds too, I think he's a pretty good actor and will be able to pull this off. I'd much rather see him do a Deadpool movie but hopefully that is still on.

Is he still going to do Deadpool though. As I understood they were making a Deadpool movie and I hate to see him not being the character.

I have the exact opposite opinion. Even though I don't keep up with the comics, I've always thought The Green Lantern was a really cool character and have been hoping for quite a while this movie would be made.

I have to admit - I'm surprised this movie is getting made at all.

It's pretty cool that we are getting movies like Thor and Green Latern with big production values. Never thought I'd see these characters carry their own movie.

Well they actualy have the mean's to make these movies now. If only they would remember that a story could be a lot of fun to have for the fans along with the CGI sometimes

I have no problem with Reynolds playing the Green Lantern. Who were the people disappointed with this selection expecting? Christian Bale is already Batman and Edward Norton is already the Hulk.
