My Target B2G1 orders from last sale have been coming in here and there - and like maybe 50% of them are coming with busted up cases (bubble mailer shipments). Weird Science was the latest casualty.

I can say that Target Circle always offers great discounts on movies, at least, that's what I've noticed. Last week, I managed to grab 'The Lighthouse' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3', both in Blu-ray for just $30. I found a discount coupon on DontPayFull of 20% that saved me a few bucks.

Target for a while now has consistently had the worst packaging (either plastic mailers or those form fitting thin cardboard mailers), and my anecdotal experience has also been a lot of busted cases (more than 50%). I’ve basically stopped ordering from them.

Target and Gruv both have a much higher case damage rate than anyone else in my experience. Target returns are easy tho and sometimes they let u keep the messed up disc for your trouble

If you have to return an expensive item, like a box set, I highly recommend taking into a store. More inconvenient but much safer. I had to return volume 2 of the Universal Monster set and they tried to say I sent them the wrong item back and then they switched it to the package was empty They had already refunded me so they re-charged my credit card. Had to dispute it with my credit card company as Target was completely unhelpful.

Yea, for pretty much all of them they've just gave me a full refund and let me keep it so can't really complain on the handling of it. Before Weird Science 4K, it was the new 10 film Fast and Furious 4K set....

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't trust their online returns for anything expensive nor for any return that requires special attention, like contacting an actual CSR to get a return label. If their automated returns process doesn't work correctly, you should probably expect problems.

We haven't had much problem with gruv, outside of a few rewraps, but our gruv orders are usually large enough to get boxed. Target on the other hand... Their media packaging has been worse than buying used from a decent reseller, particularly for small shipments and preorders. I won't bother with their returns unless the case is unsalvageable, though. And even then, I'm tempted to make due, if their system doesn't send us a replacement without requiring return of the original, as half the time the replacement is just as bad anyway, especially for older UHD releases.

In my experience GRUV wraps the padded envelopes too tightly around the discs, which gives it very little "interference" when tightly packing in the mail truck or mailbox. This can result in high rate of banged up slipcovers, etc. It also seems Gruv will sell OOP steelbooks that appear store returns as Ive gotten quite a few of those banged up in ways that dont appear they could have been done in the mail.

Target, seems to have some weird issue with either the cardboard sandwich envelopes they use or the way they seal them where the top 1" of the slipcover gets pulled out and subsequently crushed in shipping

The Target orders I've gotten (and I recieved another this week) are coming straight from one of the warehouses of Ingram, the mega-distributor.

I suspect Target simply gets the customer's order, relays the order to Ingram, and Ingram packs and ships.

Not that it makes it any better - just that the retailer (and it's not just Target; my few semi-recent Best Buy orders have been similar) is likely just a middleman.

Yes, I suspect that you’re correct.

GRUV uses Ingram as well. Makes sense for Universal's own store (or is it SDS now?). Once retailers started removing physical media from stores, there's no reason for them to keep stock somewhere, they can just do drop shipping. It would be pointless if they didn't offer good sales once in a while

I am having a really bad experience with Target recently. Two of the titles I ordered had multiple scratches so I requested replacements for them. The replacements had even worst scratches because the discs were loose in the case.

Scroll up. Most discs are being shipped from the same distribution center for other retailers as well. This isn't even a "Target" problem. Also know that virtually all discs have been manufactured in the same single Mexico plant since the last US plants closed 5 years ago. Scratches have unfortunately been very common ever since.

I get that but is there a rise in loose discs as well?
