Not sure what to think from that clip.
As a huge fan of the comics, I figured this would be a slam dunk. The comics just always felt more suited to animation than live action, yet even I was surprised how well Wright managed the impossible with the film. Not just cramming it all into one movie, but capturing the manic energy of most anime that I definitely got from the comics. Which is why I'm surprised there just seems a serious lack of energy present in this clip. I would have expected the dialogue to be delivered faster. There aren't a lot cuts. The shots seem very static too. It's like the pace of everything feels kinda... slow. The comic and the film felt much faster paced to me. Also the animation looks kinda odd. It feels unfinished and the weird blur effect to simulate focus is not working for me. Still, it's not like this is totally dissuading me from watching the show. I want to give it a fair chance and kinda wished I just avoided that clip. Here's hoping the final product will be a better representation of the material than I found this to be. |
