One of the store's regular customers was a prop guy for the film. He was also an avid prop collector and he loaned the store a bunch of props from Titanic for display. There were RMS Titanic plates and cups and silverware and other goodies, all stuff that was used during the filming. Out in front of the store was one of the motor cars used as a prop in the film (the one Jack & Rose made love in).

The car was LEFT hand drive and the license plate was printed mirror backwards. Of course, as it appeared in the film, the car was RIGHT hand drive and the license plate read correctly. For those who don't know, this article and video explains why:

https://fstoppers.com/bts/clever-way...titanic-430727

Anyway, the video store also had a limited number of litho prints for sale, direct copies of the nude Rose sketch that was used in the film. The prop guy was reportedly friends with James Cameron and obtained Cameron's permission to make copies of the sketch. If I recall correctly, he had about two dozen copies made. We purchased one of them that night and it still hangs in our living room/theater room.

If it was THE original sketch, it would be worth a crazy amount of money. As it is, I have no idea what it is worth. Not that it matters, I would never sell it.

Over the years, I've seen other copies for sale (you can find them on eBay right now). But when I look close, I can tell that they are hand-drawn copies, not direct copies. Some of the hand-drawn copies are pretty good, but there's always some little detail I can spot that isn't quite right.

At any rate, despite the fact that I've backed away from collecting movies on disc (preferring to just go with digital purchases due mostly to the lack of shelf space), the 4K Blu-ray of Titanic is most certainly one I will add to my collection. After all, it's one of our favorite films!

Mark
I'd love to have more props from the movie. The sketch would be an amazing thing to have. The biggest thing I have is a lifejacket, but I have a few smaller things too.

Someone sold the illuminated D Deck Elevator sign not too long ago. I would've bid on it, but I'm not ready to start selling my organs yet.

I have a replica set of the note and Rose's photos. It's interesting that there are two versions of Rose on the horse. One has her showing her teeth while she smiles, which is what you see in the movie, and the other is a happy closed smile. The picture of Kate riding the horse is the only picture that's actually her. The rest have her head superimposed onto someone else's body.

Um…is that not the exact same horse and rider in both photos? They’re both Kate, but I’m guessing that they ‘shopped a smilier version of Kate’s face onto the one that ended up in the movie as the other ‘real’ one makes her look a bit goofy.

Correct. It's actually Kate riding the horse, but there are differences in her face. Either they took two photos, or they changed her face later.

What do studios have against the portuguese language?
What's the reason not to include it in releases anymore?

Glad I held onto the previous boxset which is way nicer imo. just going to buy 2 copies. One for regular use and one for the 2012 BD boxset just going to swap out the BD.

One other thing if they don't do a 4K steelbook for this in the USA market I would be surprised. Out of all the stuff that gets it they can't do one for Titanic maybe. I hope they do!

It's 2 39. Only the 3D version is 1.78.

For some reason they moved The Abyss into the wishlists section even though Cameron himself said he signed off on the new master and will be coming out.

the alignment of the rollercoaster in the back is different in each shot, either two different shots, most likely, or they cut and pasted in her and the horse differently each time

So… no new deleted scenes? There’s so much unused footage, as seen in Titanic Explorer and various documentaries, and other deleted scenes that have yet to be released on a home media edition. I’ll pass on this. What a missed opportunity.

? There is a chance they'll release a non DV 4k blu ray but not releasing one elsewhere is going to be a loss of revenue

If you have the 3D Blu-ray set, but don’t have a 3D TV, is it possible to play the 1.78 version in 2D?

Sorry, I'm only willing to overpay for crappy useless paper junk when it's related to STAR TREK!
They're not gonna give out the Heart of the Ocean to a bunch of blu-ray dudes, because then we're gonna start seeing s**t like this on the streets:

Only much, much older.
