I’m still angry over what Arrow Video did with Chucky….i mean all that build up to deliver a boxset with the best film in the franchise on an old ass 2012 Blu-ray with the rest on UHD format…..

It’s moments like this I wish the distributors had a window where you could contact them about their upcoming releases and ask if it’s coming or not. I hate waiting.
Was Arrow to blame in Chucky's case? I mean, the truly stupendous Bruce Lee that Arrow released this year is not perfect only because it has no UHD of Enter The Dragon, because Warner didn't allow Arrow to use the new 4K master. It's just the od blu-ray.

197-minute film about to be hitting a BD-66.

I’m kidding. I know we’re now at 3 Disney discs with a BD-100.

I mean they obviously were looking for the rights of Scream Factory but somehow maybe MGM wouldn’t give it…should’ve just scrapped in my opinion. Paying all that money for a boxset that practically has 1 old ass bluray with old ass extras. Nah. I’ll save my money.

But on the lighter side I’m hearing Titanic has the best presentation ever, very cinematic with light photochemical grain.

MGM HAS NOT been allowing international boutique distributors to license titles in 4K.

It’s the reason why both Arrow and Umbrella amongst others are outputting Blu-rays of films that are already on UHD / to be announced on UHD in North America.

Warner wanted to drive sales of their own 4K of Enter the Dragon thus why it wasn’t included in Arrow’s set.

I just got the Film Vault box set of 2001 yesterday. Is that not an international boutique label?

Honestly, Disney can make a better encoding with a 3-hour film in a BD-66 than Paramount with the same film in a BD-100 instead.

2001 is distributed by Warners, it’s not with MGM and hasn’t been for decades.

Disney will definitely not use the same encode as Paramount. For starters it will be HDR10 only and likely of a lower bit rate as to accommodate the larger number of audio tracks they need to include.

It's really strange that MGM doesn't seem to wanna play ball with the UK boutiques when it comes to UHD. Now all we're left with are hit-or-miss boutique labels like Shout Factory, Criterion and Kino putting out all the MGM titles in 4K.

MGM didn’t allow them to use the original film for international use, but allowed that horrible remake to be made under their name.

Nope. Same 4K transfer, absolutely, but not the same encode to disc.

Disnee don’t usually make a ‘one size’ disc that covers all territories, they often do several releases with different language sets so they don’t waste too much disc space on audio. In all likelihood it’ll still be a betterer encode than the Paramount tho

If a Disney release of Titanic in UHD happens anytime soon, alongside Paramount's release, and if Disney's disc has a different encode, it would be interesting to think if some americans will decide to import Disney's disc in the case that Paramount's encoding sucks.
