I couldn’t be more excited for this label. It basically sounds like my favorite era and types of films are going to be getting the righteous VS treatment on disc that they deserve. Hopefully that extends to the cover art as well. Can’t wait for the first two announcements.

Question if this should be its own thread, it's just another VS sublabel, none of the others having their own thread. How many releases will there even be per year, 6-8?

"Offering a mix of auteur driven studio films produced during the New Hollywood era of the late 1960s and 70s all the way through the indie boom of the 1980s and 90s"

As someone who is far more interested in this sub label than the majority of old school VS releases, I would much rather follow this less trafficked thread than have to search through pages of arguments, trolling, and comedy in the main VS thread just in hopes of seeing comments about this sub.

Considering 2 releases are being announced in just a couple weeks, and the potential for standard editions down the road, gonna be more than 6-8 a year.

Since when do VS sub-labels not have their own thread? Co-signing all of the above from Joe Cinema.

I hope they put out Cisco Pike. I know Joe Rubin mentioned it was one of his favourite films in a video I watched some years ago.

But this is Justin LaLiberty's sub-label. Joe has all the rest of VS and the other sub-labels to release his picks.

I know this won't happen but it would be great to see all of Russ Meyer's movies on UHD Blu-ray. The original film elements I don't think are being taken care of very well at this time.

It's also not been inexplicably overlookedt, as the music rights were well known to be the problem with it all along.

I actually think Bad Company fits the clue just as well, if not better. There's no real reason someone like Kino shouldn't have licensed it long before this and Benton directing credits may not be expansive, but what's there is choice (Late Show, Kramer V Kramer among others).

Haven't see Gettysburg though, so maybe I'm not giving Maxwell enough due credit? And Bad Company did have a DVD release, so you're probably on the money (yet again ) and LD is it.

Who owns the rights to Larry Cohen's BONE? Is this a possibility? I would definitely like to see it get an HD upgrade, a 4K would be even better.

Not that I think it really fits in with this label, but my obligatory wish for every new boutique label / sub label that pops up:

You might be right, but keep in mind we’re still talking about a VS sub-label here, so you’re going to get their “colorful” ad copy.

Also, getting into the weeds of music rights issues wouldn’t necessarily be something you get into in promotional copy (especially for the debut releases of a new sub-label). Easier just to go “this is an overlooked movie that we’re bringing to you!”

Solid point.

I would actually prefer to get LD. Just not having to pay VS-first-10-month-pricing for it.
