Any actual discussions about the Mandela Effect that I have read define it as a group phenomenon and typically involves conflating one memory with another (e.g. thinking that Mr. Monopoly wears a monocle, when it was actually Mr. Peanut).

That reminds me, I need to buy Cat People and Dead Man during this next flash sale. The rest, thankfully, I have.

I need to devote like a month to the films of Jim Jarmusch…and Wim Wenders, too.

But it CAN also be defined by a single person so calling me out on that showed poor research and pettiness, neither of which has ever stopped that poster before in his attempts at derision and discredit.

No. Doing so renders it meaningless, and we already have perfectly good ways of describing "I misrembered". Treating it like some supernatural phenomenon is ridiculous.

How does it start if not for one person misremembering?

(Is there anything you are not an expert on? And yet for all your brilliant expertise you seem confined to exploiting it by offering snarky corrections for strangers on a forum about a hobby).

Dimension-shifting between universes that leaves remnants of the old universe, leading to a situation where some people still remember the reality of the previous universe even within the universe where that reality never existed.

It's delusional nonsense. People need to stop using it to mean "I remembered a thing wrong".

Fair enough. Everything you say is right. Just let me know what parties you’re going to be at so I can stay home.

My thoughts on the Warner Archive Blu-ray of Action Jackson (1988):

R.I.P. Carl Weathers — When I first saw Action Jackson as a kid, I didn't realize at the time that it was one of the last of the blaxploitation flicks.

Like the best of the genre, it mixes violence with humor, pits an effortlessly cool and charismatic main character (Weathers) against a racist villain (played to perfection by Craig T. Nelson), and gives them beautiful women to fight over (the gorgeous Vanity and a young Sharon Stone). Back to the Future's Biff (Thomas F. Wilson) shows up in a small role as one of the police officers working with Jericho "Action" Jackson.

The Warner Archive Blu-ray is stunning. I doubt the film looked this good when I saw it back in 1988 at a budget theater inside an ugly orange building with a Winn-Dixie.

DaBargainHunta's Decree: Action Jackson still holds up magnificently after all these years. Carl Weathers should have gotten more opportunities to be a leading man, but he still had an incredible career that spanned decades.

The first two's restorations were completed, with the former being released on DVD only, and the latter being withheld since the Vitaphone synchronized score discs did not fully survive and WB didn't wish to pay for a new score. Show Girl was per George a few years back awaiting translation of the intertitles from Italian to English again.
Pretty please, George, on Why Be Good?.

The easiest way to tell them apart is that one of them looks more like a peanut than the other one.

So a survey just got released from Warners asking about potential remasters into 4K for a handful of titles.

Titles that were asked about included:

Dirty Harry
Outlaw Josie Wales
Pale Rider
Bridges of Madison County
Interview with a Vampire
Friday
Caddyshack
Eyes Wide Shut
The Nightmare on Elm Street
Conjuring Universe series
Lethal Weapon series
Danes with Wolves
Terminator movies
Dog Day Afternoon
Constantine

They also asked if not included previous released extras on rematered discs was okay and I responded in the "Hell No!"

Not sure what any of this means, but I figured I'd pass it on.

Disappointed All the President's Men wasn't listed as an option, even though I'm also unsure of the list's importance.

And I'll only buy a new Friday release if it's the unmolested theatrical cut. The fact that I've had to hang onto my DVD all these years to have the original intact is ridiculous.

I hope the absence of titles such as Gone With the Wind and North by Northwest means the decision to remaster them in 4k has already been made and we can await the announcement of their UHD debut at any moment!

Of the provided list, Dirty Harry, Lethal Weapon, and Caddyshack are my picks.

Last time Warners did this a few years ago I believe everything listed eventually came out. Some through them (Rocky, Fugitive, Lost Boys) and others licensed out (Princess Bride, RoboCop).

I believe the same will happen here. They're just trying to get a feel of what is prioritized by them and what might be licensed out.
