Yes, you are correct that now the game is finally realized as to where it should've been at launch in 2016 when the leader got tons of grief from upset gamers who rightfully pointed out his marketing statements that weren't very accurate to the launched game, so credit to Hello Games for finally completing the game and still working on it with the millions earned for their studio. People respect a developer who doesn't give up easily.

I give the game grief, but it really is a one of a kind video game that achieved things not many games have for exploring a Galaxy. Just wish Creative/Custom modes bugs were fixed since they were introduced. And multiple terrains per planet would be great. Not just water, land but very thick, tall Endor-like forests (never in the game), vast dune deserts, Tall Mountains, fields of grain, rolling green hills, towns, cities, and more all on one planet. No such thing exists in the game unfortunately.
