Default criterion cases

So a couple days ago i went over to Best Buy to pick up Dexter Season 3 and i came across some Criterion's that i hadn't seen before. I do enjoy these films very much and I already bought Chunking Express, The Last Emperor, El Norte and The Third Man but they all had this cardboard feel to them. Now the ones in the store i had just seen (Kagemusha, Repulsion, Play Time) all had clear plastic cases which seem a whole lot nicer and a ton less fragile. I couldn't find a thread to explain if this is the new way they will be releasing these films or if it's just Criterion testing out a new packaging system here in Canada. I even tried going to their site but found nothing on this. Could someone please shed some light on this topic for me or point me in the right direction?
