![]() Heemwéi (2014: Sacha Bachim)
![]() ![]() First viewing. This is the story of two young Luxembourgish conscripts in WWII who desert the Wehrmacht to run back home. It was nice having the film's director and the two main actors assisting the screening to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII, even if my girlfriend and I didn't stay for the Q&A after the film. The most striking in the film is the fact the two boys aren't presented as great Luxembourgish patriots for leaving the German army. Another good thing are the few funny moments, although there were many gruesome scenes. Before the screening the director told the audience his film didn't have much budget. Props to him and his team for the marvellous work they have created with the little means they had. Glad I've finally seen it, this is now one of my favourite films in my native tongue. 9/10 |

![]() L'homme au cigare (2003: Andy Bausch)
![]() ![]() First viewing. A documentary about the controversial Fred Junck, probably the greatest cinephile of my tiny country, as it seems one of the biggest collectors of film on reel in the world and the main force behind the creation of the cinematheque in Luxembourg-City, directed by the most famous director of films in Luxembourgish language, who gave a little speech before the screening at the aforementioned cinematheque. 8/10 |

A very strange mystery/horror with a Rashomon style, I liked how it told some of the story from different people's view and you had to try and piece things together. I'm more into mystery than horror but it was still very good, with some spooky jumps for sure [Show spoiler]

It's not only the worst movie I've seen all year. It's also the worst movie of the last 5 years and quite possibly the worst movie I have seen ever in my entire life. And that concludes everything I've seen in theaters for the month of August. I'm gonna try to post more iften instead of making these massive posts. Which includes tomorrow of what I've seen today and will tomorrow. |
