For those people who won't buy because they think there will be another cut in the future:

Quote:
TrekMovie: In our last interview right before the movie came out we talked about the deleted scenes, most of which are back-story stuff. Your point was that may be of interest to us Trekkies, but wasn’t working for a general audience, especially the Klingon diversion, which was very cool. Now after watching them, I agree with that, but in the world DVD, you suggested maybe it is possible we could see an extended version. What do you think of that idea? Where you put the deleted scenes in. It would be mostly of interest to the fans, but that kind of thing is being done, like with Watchmen.

J.J.Abrams: It is funny. I have never been moved yet to put together a version that was an extended or Director’s cut of something. Whenever I have worked on something that has been transferred to DVD, I sort of felt like ‘The movie was the movie’ and it should be left as is. Certainly there are times where the director has conflicts with the studio and it is a way of getting the last word in and getting your version out, and I can see that, and if and when that happens to me, I am sure I will moved to do it. But for this, frankly, it felt like losing those scenes was what was best for the film. And an extended version certainly could exist, and someone could come in and cut it together, but I think the movie is better served without those scenes. While I loved aspects of everything that was cut, ultimately they were cut for a reason.
So there is pretty much no excuse now not to buy it (unless you didn't like the film). Top flight picture & sound. Great extras.

My Limited Edition Replica Gift Set is shipping soon.

It will travel to to me in the other side of the world, hope Amazon put some "fragile" stickers on it.

Just saw it again on BD.

Best bit is still that cameo.

For some reason, it has a bit of diminishing returns for me and the PQ has this film quality to it.

Believe it or not, they did delete the pre-order, but after calling Amazon, it all worked out. I got it for 10.99 including shipping. Not bad for sticking up for my rights.

UPDATE: Just got an email from Amazon saying the package has been shipped and will arrive on the 17th. YEAH! HOT DIDDIDY DOG!

Better pics of the Target-exclusive Enterprise packaging from HERE

The poster is from Australia and these are of the DVD version of the packaging, though I can't see it being any different for the Blu-Ray, but you never know. He also mentions that there is a standard keepcase for the discs should you not want to store them in the saucer. Does anyone have the North American blu-ray version that can confirm?

I just got home from f.y.e. I put a deposit down to reserve a steelcase edition. Then tomorrow morning, on to Target for the Enterprise model edition, and to Best Buy for the edition with the pins!!! If anyone wants to sell their pewter Enterprise edition, let me know!

Well I pre-ordered this movie on Friday from Amazon with the 2 day shipping. Amazon has the delivery date for the 17th but when I look it up on the UPS website it says it was rescheduled for the 18th. I e-mailed Amazon to see which date will it arrive since this is the first time I've pre-ordered for delivery on the release date.

Not a big issue if the movie is delayed by a day, I really went this route to test how the release date delivery is from Amazon.

Spotty. Sometimes you get it early, sometimes a day or two after. Once in a great while on the day itself.

Really depends.

Oh i see, thanks. I wasn't sure if I was going to get Terminator Salvation through Amazon or at the store, I wanted to test the release date delivery with Star Trek. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll just pick up the other movie at the store to be sure.

Really? On their site they told me to select the 2 day shipping to get the movie on the release date. Oh well.

THANKS for the pix! I've double-dipped to upgrade my DVDs to BD before, but this is the first (and hopefully last) time I will double-dip a BD title. I'm aiming to pick up my BB pre-order tonight at midnight and hitting Target first thing in the morning for this sweet puppy! I'm hoping I can sell my discs coming with the BB pins on eBay, but if not, I'll hang on to them to give to a deserving person.

Dang, that looks damn good. I hope that a regular case is included in this exclusive so it fits on the shelf and I can display the Ship with other toys.
