Default My Panny S1 as a monitor.... help!!

ok so im getting myself a new desktop for xmas. One of my big issues when i decided to get a hdtv flat screen and upgrade was that i could use my new tv as a computer monitor. I have figured out how to use my plasma as a monitor via hdmi of course so it will be great for the little gaming i do and a ton of movies i can watch. but my big worry now is that i have (as you can see) a plasma. and what does everyone say about plasmas? dont leave them on pause or on one screen for too long. Getting to the point.... the damage is done and i have my tv (since may, so it is well broken in) and i love it. ive actually become a stickler about people pausing my tv without turning it off (including with myself) but now if i want to use it as a monitor.... how much trouble am i in? i am a college student and i write alot of papers and am on the net alot. am i setting my self up for disaster or is my panny the bad ass i hope it is?
