question about wall color for a 120 inch projector screen

Ok, since I am hearing different stories and really not sure what do I will ask you fine people out there. I have a room with moderate light, but is almost 100% dark when lights are out, and I am thinking of painting my wall with the screen black because I was told it will actually help with the light I have in the room. I do watch shows/movies more often than not with the lights on or set low so is this really going to help? BTW its a 1.1 grain grey wolf screen on a white wall right now.
