Default AUO Develops 65-inch Full HD 120 Hz LCD TV Panel

From Tech On! Nikkei

Quote:
AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) of Taiwan has developed a 65-inch full HD (high definition, 1920 x 1080p) 120 Hz LCD TV panel. The product is claimed to be the world’s second 65-inch full HD LCD panel driven at 120 Hz following the one from Sharp Corp. Mass production is planned to start in the third quarter of 2007.

The 120 Hz driving technology was presented at FPD International 2006 held in October 18-20, 2006. The specifications of the latest panel are: gray to gray response time of 4 ms, MPRT of 8 ms, viewing angle of 178 degrees in both the vertical and horizontal directions, contrast ratio of 2,000:1, color gamut of NTSC 92%, luminance of 500 cd/m2, and color number of 1073.7 million.

According to the company, it is now ready to offer a 65-inch model, following the 42- and 46-inch panels. The 65-model will be manufactured in AUO's 6th-generation LCD panel production line (for the glass substrate measuring 1500 x 1850 mm).
