I will only if Bill Hunt doesn't review the set. He'll probably give it a positive review, knowing full well that it has just as much DNR as Gladiator.

Sauron is small change compared to Morgoth, but that doesn't mean we don't love him.

Speaking of Sauron, my guess is that since there are two movies they will show the White Council and their decision to oust Sauron from Dol Guldur. Tolkien has intentionally never given us a visual representation of Sauron, other than to say his hand was burnt black from holding a Silmaril, and of course that hand with the Ring was eventually cut off by Isildur. Therefore, the production team will have to show him - I wonder if they will just depict him as they did in images from the beginning of Fellowship of the Ring?

I don't know, all Bilbo did was take the Ring off that Mountain, Frodo carried it all the way to the fires of Mount Doom and cast it back into the chasm from whence it came.

Yup, his platonic male friend and his enemy/servant helped him a lot but he still did it.

I still think bilbo is more intelligent and clever. He saved 13 dwarves from spiders/wood elves without any help.

Yeah I remember that, guess they weren't as tough as Gimli, son of Gloin.

Bilbo might have been slightly more courageous, but Frodo was probably a little more intelligent. It is hard to imagine Frodo trying to pick the trolls pocket, or getting the Mirkwood spiders to fight him so the Dwarves could get away. On the other hand, Frodo shows more maturity compared to Bilbo at the comparable age of 50, when both of them set out on their adventure.

Frodo always seemed more calm and in control, even at the age of 111, Bilbo seemed kind of childish and selfish, just the way I see it though.

I could ask my brother, snce he's read Tolkien's books about 500 times each but tell me if I am wrong? Should he not be just the "eye" even in Bilbo The Hobbit? I know that early on he could take whatever shape or form he wish but after losing the one ring, most of that power was gone or am I wrong with this?

Again:Sauron was only referred to in the Hobbit-as the necromancer.Never a part of the story. Why make it into such an epic as LoTR as it is not.It is a simple, but beautiful story about human caracter and transformation.

Maybe they are overcomplicating it. . . . .

Well Bilbo story alone is roughly a 90 minutes movie. The book is rather simple and much more for children. I think their idea to expand and put things like the White Council and such make sense. You have to remember that yes many fans of the books see the movies but a lot more people who see them will not read the books and never will. Imagine the shock they would have going to see Bilbo and get a simple kid story push at them...would not work very well on the box office.

When Gandalf rides to the White Council while Bilbo and the Dwarves are in Mirkwood, the Council decides to oust Sauron from Dol Guldur. He is physically booted from the area and returns to Mordor, although one of lieutenants, a Nazgul named Khamul, eventually takes up residence there again.
