Dedicated Discs

The release of Avatar got me thinking, cos there using the whole Blu-Ray Disc for the film to get the best PQ and Audio possible, would this work for other movies,

example - would the PQ on a 90 min movie that took up a whole 50gb disc be better than say if it was also on a disc with extras and an alternative cut of the film?

another example would be terminator 2 skynet edition, would the PQ be better if each version of the movie had its own disc?
