Black Hawk Down was a decent war film. I have definitely seen better. Its all action and nuthin else. I guess that was their intent. To me it didnt stand out like I had heard. Overall not a bad film but there are better war films out there. It is better than Hurt Locker though. Got Em!!

Overall, a fantastic film. Tom Cruise was great, and speilbergs direction was as good as always. I had a few minor issues that stopped it from being a ten out of ten. (The jetpack sequence was rather lame and KotCS esque.)

The PQ and AQ were incredible. 10/10 for both.

I recently watched it for the first time (gave it a 5/5) but the jet packs were a big "what the hell is that?" moment.

The reason the film is so successful is because of its distinct sense of realism and its gritty nature. "Slows to a crawl" is the absolute last phrase I would ever use to describe the film. It would slow the pace and add little to the overall film (which I usually would disagree with vehemently).

I do agree that the sound and picture are excellent and are demo material.

Definitely agree with it being intense. seeing the large mobs of people attacking the crashed helicopter was one of the scariest things in any film i've yet to see. didn't expect that at all.

I don't think that the suspense went down - just that the action abruptly stopped for about 30 minutes - and then there was more talking scenes than action scenes. and the scene between the kidnapped pilot and the random militia guy kind of felt out of place. i understand why it was there, but it just didn't seem to fit in "this type" of war movie. and what i mean by that is that most war movies typically have a motive to get across and Black Hawk Down didn't feel like a "war movie with a message" but that scene suddenly seemed to try and add that to the movie.

just a minor complaint about that.

This was one of my blind buys today and while it was entertaining, I didn't feel it was very well put together. After the first 20 minutes the action picks up and the quick scenes are awesome, but then the movie slows to a crawl. I was shocked at how the fast paced action died down almost immediately at the 90 minute mark and random scenes of characterization felt out of place for this type of war film.

I also thought this was going to be a Josh Hartnett vehicle but surpringly enough he only had like 30 lines of dialogue. And seeing Jeremy Piven as a helicopter pilot made me chuckle.

Definitely a great film for the sound department - and the visuals were extraordinary - especially for a 2001 film - but it all didn't feel like it added up to anything spectacular. No big amazing ending, too many characters that were almost impossible to tell the difference between, and the odd start to the film brought down my overall impressions of it.

I agree with your rating...8/10

I just finished the first 4 Episodes and man, these are good. A lot of cliffhangers (expected being a TV show). But very interesting a original. I would recommend this show to any sci-fi lover.

On the downside the AQ is pretty bad. SUPER LOSSY without a lot of detail. It sounds like a youtube video lol.

PQ on the other had a pretty fair, great and some scenes but waxy and others.

Overall with its major defects i think this a good series, cant wait to pop in disc 2 tomorrow.

the general consensus by "critics" is that the show starts slow and then gets much, much better. sof if you already are enjoying Fringe (much like myself), just wait. it really gets quite amazing soon

I was just pointing out that this is a thread for movie reviews, but any extra exposure for the show is good. I usually can respect opinions and should just let this go, but I still think you saying the audio is as bad as watching a YouTube video is ridiculous. There's opinion, and then there's just being downright false. Oh well, that is seriously the last time I will bring that up. Glad you're enjoying the show.
