I can confirm that the "remastered" version is on the shelves at Best Buy. It's missing the "2-Disc" phrase on the back right of the cover.

And just skipping through a few scenes I knew didn't look great at all on the original release, this thing is glorious....

I just was able to exchange my old copy for the new remaster at my local Best Buy. A lot of talking was involved, but in the end they let me swap it out.

Nice. Again, the remaster is actually better than advertised.

How the hell were you able to pull that off? Nice work.

Let us know what you think of the remaster.

I just stuck with the truth. Told the guy I bought it but never watched it, explained the replacement program, and asked if there was any way they could save me some hassle. I am in there often enough the service rep knows me (I don't know if this is a good thing ), and I was buying a laptop and printer. In the end, they let me do it. They even pulled up my reward zone history from November 2009 to do the exchange.

I think the Best Buy in my area is particularly stingy about their return policy.

When it comes to discs (DVD's, Blu-ray's, CD's), most BB's will exchange an open product AS LONG AS IT'S FOR THE SAME TITLE. You cant return a TRANSPORTER 2 Blu-ray for a TRANSFORMERS Blu-ray, but I've always been able to bring back a title and get another of the exact title.

So in the case of Gladiator, if a Best Buy has the new one's on shelves (and no longer carries the first one), That's not your fault. You will be able to exchange your old one for their replacement one. It's not like swapping an old XBOX360 for the new XBOX360. That's totally different

Default Question about packaging

i found two copies at walmart today that did not have the 2 disc set printed on the back yet the $10 off coupon, which expired a month ago, was still on the outside of the box. The upc was also the same. These both strike me as odd if this is the new version, especially the expired coupon. Can anyone confirm if the new version has the coupon on the packaging?

I just noticed that Amazon DE has put up a release notification for the 10th Anniversary Edition of Gladiator, indicating that it may be released there soon. Hopefully, the US and UK will not be far behind, so I can order my corrected copy. It'll make a great holiday gift for me

Interesting point.

I have not opened mine (and won't be able to check until the end of the day), but would kind of like to know for sure that the marketing without the "2 Disc Set" on the back is in fact the remaster before I open mine.

I did notice that the 3 copies without the text over the studio logo all had slipcovers, while the copies with the text did not.

What is? The $10 off coupon? Are you sure it is the remastered version?

It's the remastered version. I still have my original copy. It says "2-Disc Set" on the back cover, bottom right. The new copy I picked up today did not.

But, for safety, I watched a few minutes of my original copy and then compared it to the new copy I purchased today.

It was night and day.

The remastered version is available at stores. It's out there. My slipcover did not have the 10 off coupon.

Same here. They had 5 copies. Two with the coupon. One had the 2 Disc Set and one did not. The other three had no coupon and no 2 Disc Set.

I did not buy it as the presence of the coupon makes me think they could of stopped putting the 2 Disc Set line on a while ago.

That or they just had some of those slips laying around still.

All of the copies at my Best Buy did not have "2-Disc Set" on the back of the slipcover but it was printed on the back of the actual Blu-ray case. Most of them had the $10 coupon, so I assumed these were not remastered copies.

So, to clarify, we're not talking about the slipcover, but the case inside the slip that should not have "2-Disc Set" on it? Does the remastered version even come with a slip?

I called Paramount today and got the same mailing address as everyone else did here, so if you got a different PO Box I would not send it there.

Considering that they aren't going to do anything with the recalled disc aside from verifying that you own the movie, just do what I did: I wrapped the disc and a notecard with my contact information in a piece of printer paper, and slapped two postage stamps on the front. Total cost: 88 cents.
