HMV's also put the egg back up with £10 cheaper than Play.
Thats awesome then, hopefully HMV will still be selling them

Looking at the pictures of the Egg in this thread it looks well nice

Yes, they are quite quick.I ordered the anthology from them on Tuesday and it was despatched the next day. Have had blu's from them before and the delivery is normally pretty quick with cardboard packaging. It is the cheapest around at £34.96 (and the Pacific is only £29 too)

Having spent the last few days going through the special features as I'm going to watch the films with my Wife and she is working, since we moved I've still not found a job so plenty of free time although I'd rather be in employment, 4 weeks off and counting is getting really boring.

Anyway the special features, all films have superb featurettes on different stages of the production, the Alien ones interest me more than the Aliens ones but I still found them fascinating. The real coup though is the utterly fascinating Wreckage and Rage the making of Alien 3, trimmed of all the interesting and juicy stuff for the Quadrilogy as Fox weren't prepared to be seen in such a bad light but obviously had a change of mind with the Blu anthology and indeed look like big time villains here.

Not that Fincher comes across as a saint himself although you have to admire his stance on his first feature. Fincher isn't there to defend himself but a good few of the cast and crew have nothing but praise for him. Seeing him at work you can see even at such at an early stage of his feature film career that his talent is evident and his work within advertising, music videos and ILM had served him well and the guy didn't just come good on Se7en.

Watching the Alien 3 doc makes me really look forward to watching the Assembley cut again but in HD, it's likely to be the closest to his vision we will ever get. I actually have more of a preference for 3 since seeing the new cut than I do for Cameron's combat flick but the original stands head and shoulders above them all. Resurrection will be worth it to see it in HD I guess and watching the behind the scenes footage makes you realise it had some good ideas but didn't quite fulfil it's potential, infact 3 is not the missed opportunity 4 is. For me at least 3 in comparrison in the assembley cut is a fine film indeed.

1. Alien
2. Alien 3 Assembley Cut
3. Aliens
4. Alien Resurrection

Loving the Aliens transfer, it's so clear you can even see the strings holding ferro's dropship when it leaves the Surlaco.

And don't forget that the list price includes VAT, which is removed for orders purchased from and shipped to the US. When you add in shipping, it's almost a wash depending on what you are buying. I also ordered the Alien Anthology Tuesday, and it dispatched today.

Alien Anthology : £31.91 ($50.57)
Postage & Packing: £3.08 ($4.88)

Total: £34.99 ($55.46)

I placed an order for the Alien Anthology, BTTF Trilogy and Iron Man 2 last Wednesday, all 3 were sent Friday and arrived Monday so no complaints here except that you can't cancel pre-orders online, it has to be done over the phone.

Just curious - in which order do people here rank the 4 films?

For me:

1. Aliens (10/10)
2. Alien (9/10)
3. Alien resurrection (7/10)
4. Alien 3 (5/10)

Got mine from a Blockbuster store today, who strangely are doing the same price as online - £34.96. Everything instore is stickered up wrong ("preorder for only £37.99" etc) but great deal.

The packaging on the normal version is the same dire rubbish from the US Quadrilogy - you need about 10ft to open the thing out! Still, the outer box is a bit more sturdy.

Alright mate. Yes I am in the UK. If something is posted first class from within the UK I tend to get it next day. If its coming from Jersey (play,Hmv etc) its about four days. I am sure Blockbuster are UK based. Had a game shipped from Shopto today we shall see if that turns up in the morning.

1. Alien Original Cut 10/10
2. Alien 3 Assembley Cut 8/10
3. Aliens Special Edition 7.5/10
4. Alien Resurrection New Cut 6/10
,
I don't watch the other versions of the films so would need to rate them this way. Prefer the original cut of Alien have always watched the Extended Aliens since it was available and couldn't go back to the theatrical, Alien 3 is so improved by the assembley version why would I want to watch the theatrical apart from for the commentary and I prefer the newer cut of Resurrection.

Nice, I prefer the US packaging so I'll be getting that once the price drops a little (hopefully) but I did get the BTTF tin from UK because it just looks better and doesn't have the annoying clasps type things in the US version.
