Perhaps instead of a condescending, samrta$$ comment you could expound on why you think it is crazy to think maybe WB wants it to not be completely out of left field when they announce exclusivity.
Movie studios comprise an extremely close knit community.
Numerous movies are produced by more than one studio.

6 days last time. And that was not a WB press release but an interview with an HD site.

Even if they deny again I'm sure a sizeable population would ignore again and continue to speculate. It's only been about a month since the last denial. What would have changed in WB-land since then?

You are right. Maybe Warner did tell Lion's Gate to leak this. My point is that instead of trying to construct a conspiracy theory, we should focus on what we know for sure. What we know about Warner's HDM situation is that they are neutral and have not announced any plans to change that. I am just as hopeful that Warner goes Blu exclusive. But I am not holding my breath.

Hey Wicky,

There was a link to a post earlier in this thread to Powermax regarding this leak. His words more-or-less made it sound as if he was rather close to this story, as he was in a meeting regarding "damage control" and the subsequent butt-chewing that ensued. Do you have similar insight to say that no deal has been signed conclusively? Not to doubt you, as you've always been very level-headed, just curious. As far as #2 goes, you're dead-on. My own thoughts on the subject is that they won't release these titles until their minds have been made up, as the cost of producing catelogs (no matter how great they are) is rather prohibitive. Hoping your still in this thread to reply!

Why was 300 or Troy released then if they are holding the large releases for the bonus features? 300 and Troy each grossed over 3 times what V for Vendetta did. http://the-numbers.com/movies/2006/VFVND.php

From the sound advice blog:

Quote:
Web forums were ablaze this morning because of a controversial report by Rich Greenfield of Pali Research, saying in 2008 Warner Bros. would cease support of HD DVD and become Blu-ray only. Finding this suspicious, I contacted Jim Noonan, Warner Bros. Senior Vice President and General Manager, for clarification. I received a response almost immediately and his reply is as follows:

”Dear Mr. Lindich, We have made no decision to change our present policy which is to produce in both HD DVD and Blu-ray.”

Well, I think 3 days before CES... Warner could sign A contract deal with the BDA. But that is my guess. just to give the insiders and Wickywoo some grief

Remember when the PS3 wasnt getting a price cut. And when the PSP wasnt being redesigned. And when the 360 malfunctions were "isolated". Ahhhhhhh i remember THOSE days.

Do any of you really think they would tell him if they were going to drop HD DVD when they haven't made any kind of announcement? Sure they might say "Why yes we are, and you are the first person we letting know." They aren't going to tell anyone until they make a press release or announce at CES or whatever.

I went back and copied the link to Maxpower's post regarding this:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=6783

Again, sounds like he's a lot closer to this than any of the other posters on here, unless a Mod wants to discredit his statement (I'm looking at you, Wicky!) I think it's most telling that it's what he's not saying that makes his post so interesting...

Right on man. I hope you enjoy it like I think you will.
Planet Earth is a top notch title.
Did you get the version narrated by David Attenborough, it is supposed to be the better of the two going by all the reviews I've read?. I've never seen the Sigourney Weaver version myself.

I do not have the "personallysitting in on the meeting" confirmation, but I have the next best thing. Nothing has been signed yet. And nothing will be signed by Warner, should they decide to go exclusive (likely) until after the holidays. Pre-emptive strike- If it doesn't happen at CES, it doesn't mean it won't at some point after CES. Right now Warner knows they're the swing vote, and at the very least they want to milk it for everything they can. No one is going to make any new offers till after they see the Christmas numbers

Right. If Blu exclusivity was announced now, the HD DVD disk sales would drop off the charts completely. Both ends of the candle baby.
