I definitely enjoyed Pi, but Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler and The Fountain are great. Can't wait to watch The Fountain again because I don't think I fully understand it's depth yet so I'll check out your discussions on the film afterwards.

Plot: Leon is a professional assassin that lives by 2 rules. No women and no kids and THATS IT. Killing is all he knows but he will run into a special little girl that might change that.

My Take: I like it overall and thought it was a fun movie that i could watch allot. Gary Oldman was amazing, and little Natalie Portman was great. I was entertained throughout the entire film, and especially when Oldman's crazy ass was on the big screen. I wish there could of been a little more action but i guess the story wasnt really about him being a hit man.

Conclusion: Cool film and i'd watch it again for sure. Kinda stuck between 3.5 or 4. But since im known a generous JACK ill bump it up to 4. Knowing when i watch this in the future i will probably drop it to 3.5 because there really isnt any emotional factor here (even though it might be to some) it didnt hit home on that level.

Just watched this on Monday night I believe. Didn't get around to reviewing it but I did enjoy it. It was my first viewing. I too loved Oldman's performance. He seems to be good with these types of evil characters.

ALADDIN

Writing this from my blackberry so it doesn't have all the standard size, colors and emoticons as it usually would have so that's why it'll look so bland

Happened to catch this on abc family and this is the first time in well over a decade I've watched this wonderful film. I can't wait till it comes to blu-ray, its gonna be fantastic!

Genie is essentially a blue, large cartoon of Robin Williams himself. He's wacky, over the top (at times maybe even somehow too over the top - even for an animated kids film!) And more eccentric than ever. But he's perfect for the role, even if maybe they wrote the part with him in mind

A great story, fun, adventurous, terrific characters and a great villain in Jafar. The whole film really feels alive and vibrant and it holds up incredibly well for being as old as it is.

Its a film that gets a "perfect" score, but isn't necessarily a high personal favorite. I love it, and have always loved it and always will. When I saw it was on I sat down and just zoned out the world and enjoyed like I was a kid again. It was great I laughed, I cheered, I felt bad for some characters during scenes when Jafar had the upper hand... Great stuff!

I didnt know it was dubbed. Well this blu has the TC and EE so it might have the orginal version too. Or maybe you can pick the original track.

Little ol Natalie Portman, she is so beautiful. Cant wait to see Black Swan.

Agreed. I'd definitely buy Pi if it came out on blu, but his other films are MILES ahead of it in every way. But that's to be expected as Aronofsky got better as he learned over the years.

Seriously, get new glasses or contacts
I will... Eventually lol
I've had like five pairs and I either lose or break them. And for contacts I'm afraid to touch my eyes. My drivers license expires in 2015, so I was originally just gonna wait until then but I may move it up sooner getting them replaced

I didn't say dubbed, I said "dumbed down". I basically meant that the original film Leon was cut by 24 minutes and then released in America as The Professional.

Yep, a lot of us fans were worried that we wouldn't get the original cut when it was first announced. That was the deciding factor for me, I would not have bought it if it was the US cut. I've had the blu for months now but haven't watched it yet, I need to get on that

That's what a lot of people say about touching their eyes, but you won't know unless you give it a shot. It's really not hard to do and contacts are so convenient... it's worth trying, trust me

The Chronicles of Riddick

Death by tea cup

As I've said, my preferred of the Riddick films.

A radical departure from Pitch Black, but one that still works very well and is mostly carried on the shoulders of the Riddick character. There's other story lines besides his own...but come on, this movie is all about the awesomeness that is Richard B. Riddick

No more horror element to this film, its instead replaced by action and more action. Vin Diesel gets to play "Who's the Better Killer". Nuff said

Just like in Pitch Black, Diesel is bad*** as Riddick; he handles the serious and the comedy of the role well...which Vin Diesel is hilarious at comedy (besides the Pacifier ) because its strange to see this big, buff, stone faced guy making jokes

I like the story of the
[Show spoiler]Necromongers coming to take over worlds and Riddick being the only one who is capable of killing the Lord Marshall. But I like it because he is just such a skilled fighter , not because he has mystical Furian power as we are told in the Director's Cut

This movie got a lot of crap for not living up to Pitch Black but I definitely don't agree with that obviously. It's got some good fighting, a chase sequence, a very cool main character, the most interesting weapon to kill someone with I've ever seen and a good final fight. Good enough for me. I go in expecting a fun action movie and that's exactly what I get

Rating - 4.25/5

Can't wait for Riddick in 2012.

End Of Days.

I always liked this movie.
It is very unique and very interesting.
Although not a movie for everyone, I would still recommend this to almost anyone.
The actor playing The Devil is superb.

9/10 from me.

I disagree about there not being any emotional factor.
[Show spoiler]The fact that Stansfield kills Leon at the end after how close him and Mathilda got was pretty emotional, especially since they show her crying after she realizes he's dead.

You were too busy drooling over Gary Oldman to notice any emotional factor. Now, if
[Show spoiler]Gary Oldman was Leon, you would have been in tears when Leon died at the end.

Date Night

year: 2010
director: shawn levy
starring: steve carell, tina fey, mark wahlberg, mila kunis, and james franco

the gf and i went out for a few drinks and then rented some movies. her first choice of the night is Date Night. and i've come to the conclusion that every time we go out for drinks, the movie following the drinks, generally sucks. and sadly, Date Night follows this trend

by themselves, in different situations, steve carell and tina fey are funny. but here? honestly they are the least funniest characters in the film! i don't know how much was written and how much was improv, but carell and fey just didn't seem too "free" here. the film felt very bogged down for them while crazy hijinks were taking place around them. of course, they play a boring middle aged couple, so they play that well, but they don't have a lot of jokes between the two of them. everyone else supplies that. which is cruel irony because these are two very funny people... elsewhere.

lucky it's a decently fast 90 minutes and has a sappy happy ending of course. but it's just not very funny or entertaining. a lot of and many of the jokes the writers / director try to press on us go on without even a chuckle. i'd say there are a few "hmphs" and chuckles, but only 2 or 3 laugh out loud moments. i was incredibly let down by this.

and the biggest laughs come from wahlberg, franco and kunis (my love! ) and sadly they are only cameos i could watch the scenes with franco and kunis ten times in a row and still laugh louder and more often on viewing 10 or 55 than the rest of the film on the first viewing. that's incredibly depressing when you think about it.

i don't really know if overall it was worth the rental (about 3 bucks) but having mila kunis in it added a point overall so i guess it was worth it when i take that into consideration.

and am i the only one that finds it odd how often
[Show spoiler]Ray Liotta
does these oddball cameos in comedies these days? jesus. he seems to be in almost everything that DOESN'T seem like something he should be doing. i hope he's not low on money and actually enjoys being a part of these films because otherwise i'd feel bad for the guy. he's a great gangster character, fits him well. and even though he stays that in the comedies (here and Wild Hogs, kinda) it just kind of seems out of place.

PQ: 3.5/5
AQ: 4/5
