Chris Peterson might be the best in the nation at developing talent, another good example would be Kirk Ferentz. Boise State and Iowa always end up with a lot of players that were not given offers from other big football schools and makes them stars.

Just decided to browse the spread for the various championship week games.
CUSA Title - UCF favored over SMU by 9 ![]() Boise St. favored over Utah St. by 39.5 - I'd forgotten Boise had a game left Oregon favored over Oregon St. by 16.5 SEC Title - Auburn favored over South Carolina by 5 - I'm a little surprised the spread isn't more like 7 or 8. Still SC is pretty good. ACC Title - Va Tech favored over FSU by 4 Big 12 - Oklahoma favored over Nebraska by 3.5 USC favored over UCLA by 6.5 |

Right now, I don't think Miami could beat Middle Tennessee State. They are a lost team and have no fight or emotion in them. They need good leadership desperately.

I disagree with that strongly. I'll bet they come out fired up as ever. That Boise team is loaded with seniors who want to end their last regular season with another big win. I'd compare it somewhat to Florida last year. A lot of people were thinking Tebow and the Gators wouldn't give 100% in the Sugar Bowl coming off a huge loss to Alabama which ended their national title repeat dreams. The Gators were fired up and wiped the floor with Cincinnati. I wouldn't worry about and lack of desire with Boise. They always play with a chip on their shoulder.

Gruden is not going to Miami. He just enjoys the attention he gets when he's linked to a job, but I don't believe he has any real interest in the job. He's either going to stay in the MNF booth or go to the NFL. If Gruden wanted to coach college he would have made a strong effort for the Notre Dame job last year. |

But that time frame could be another f'n decade. They keep extending this BCS nonsense in roughly 5 year increments. Boggles the mind that all the smaller divisions have a 16 team playoff yet D1 can't even get so much as an 8 team playoff.

The current BCS contract expires in (I believe) two more years, I'm hoping after that we can get a real playoff system going. There will be more money to be made, and the NCAA has to take that into consideration. Money talks.

ESPN's contract to air BCS games expires in 2014. That doesn't mean there couldn't be a change to the current BCS structure but at best it would be a plus-1 format. There won't be an 8-team playoff before 2014.

The Denver Post says that Colorado has offered their head coaching job to Redskins tight end coach Jon Embree, although the school denies it. Former coach Bill McCartney, who was a candidate for the job, told the Post:
"It was never about me doing it again," McCartney said in an interview with The Denver Post. "It was about setting the table for a black man to come in (as head coach). And he (Bohn) hired one. Now, give him a chance." Colorado is hoping Embree, a Colorado grad, will hire fellow Colorado grad and Vikings assistant Eric Bieniemy as his offensive coordinator. It's not surprising Colorado hired the job to Embree. They are in very poor shape financially and couldn't afford a big-name coach. http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_16759314 |
