Cristobal played at Miami and was a member of their 1991 National Championship team and has been an assistant coach there twice.

In other college coaching news, Indiana has fired coach Bill Lynch, and North Texas has hired former Iowa State coach Dan McCarney.

Not a bad option either, I just think some of these guys who take over programs with no expectations could find trouble when you heap on expectations. Even Rich Rod who fixed WVU didn't have near the pressure he did or does at Michigan.

Good move for both parties. The Big East adds a premier football program, and now TCU is in a major conference. This is good news.

lol I just can't trust scouts anymore especially the past couple years for recruiting rankings. They have Duke right now with a better recruiting class then both Miami and UMD

I just don't see how Texas Christian can be part of a conference with East in its name, way to let that make no geographical sence, NCAA.

The Big 12 is about to have 10 teams and the Big 10 is about to have 12 teams. College Sports are all about branding now

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Miami interim coach Jeff Stoutland says the reeling Hurricanes will be ready for their bowl game.

Speaking out Tuesday for the first time since taking over for the fired Randy Shannon, Stoutland said the remaining Miami coaching staff is "all-in, all hands on deck" in an effort to end the season the right way.

Miami expects to be selected for the Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas, on Dec. 31.

Shannon was fired Saturday night after Miami lost to South Florida, completing a 7-5 regular season. He was 28-22 in four seasons, and Stoutland was asked to take over Sunday morning.

I know Duke has improved since Cutcliffe showed up, but that can't be right. Can it?

Edit - Holy crap, Duke is currently ranked higher!

Rivals.com has Miami at #40, Maryland at #41, and Duke at #50. ESPN has Miami at #23 and neither of the other teams ranked in the top 25. There are so many recruiting sites out and recruiting is very subjective so there that there's going to be a lot disagreement in rankings.

Duke with a good football recruiting class? Something tells me recruiting violations are forthcoming. They must be handing out Cam Newton money there.

I wouldn't call it a good class, just slightly better than Maryland. (No offense supersix4) Neither are in the top half the ACC. (Although it is still early)

Which is why I doubt they will be as successful as they have been once they move to the MWC. I hope Minnesota recruits well and hires a good staff, they seem to be turning it around a bit towards the end of this year.

Boise never gets good recruiting classes. That's what's so impressive about the job Chris Peterson does. He takes horrible recruits and makes them great college players despite the fact that they aren't great athletes. Look at Ian Johnson and Jared Zabransky. Both were great at Boise but never made the NFL. Boise's only players that went on to NFL success are Kyle Wilson and Ryan Clady, both of whom were 2 star recruits.
