They just set up a new display at our store in Summerside, PEI. They call it the "pre-boxing day sale". They had pretty much the same $14.83 titles mentioned here already plus some 2 for $25 blu's. Got THE CRAZIES (2010 remake) for $12.50 (part of 2 for $25 deal).

Went to another store and found Superbad. Hidden in the back with a $14.98 sticker on it. Scanned in at $9.98.

Went across the street and PMed their absolutely ridiculous price of $39.99.

The ugly yellow pre-boxing day sale boxes were out this morning.

Add Macgruber to the $14.93 pile.

There were a bunch of 2/$25 ones... more than their flyer listed.

I found only 1 'We own the night' for $9.83 with a $5 sticker for Salt.

That is a good deal for those DRAGON TATTOO movies. I haven't seen the 2nd one yet.

I saw LEAP YEAR and THE CRAZIES on 2 for $25. I've already seen both and they are so-so. LEAP YEAR is actually quite horrible, but I'm an Amy Adams fan, so I will pick this up, but not over $10.

Is it just me, or are these titles screaming $9.99-after-Boxing-Day?

A lot of them will.

The only strength a lot of these movies have is they're new releases. The good ones will thrive as catalog titles, but the bad ones are doomed to a life in the bins.

Case in point: KNIGHT AND DAY

I think the studios must know that if they don't liquidate this stinker *now* they never will. I keep seeing low-price after low-price for this title.

$14.99 seemed like a good deal for the combo pack at first, but then...

It all depends on your tolerance level for the actor/actress. Mine is pretty low for both of them. I don't mind Diaz but she is more suited for comedy roles and well Tom Cruise is Tom Cruise. You either love him or hate him. He has some good films and some really bad ones.

If I wanted to see another version of this movie, I'll go check out the Tourist. At least I can drool over Angelina Jolie.

Back on topic, any good prices for new releases or movies released recently? Nothing so far on the sales that interest me.

you make a good point. i really like Tom Cruise and love almost all the movies he does.

War of the Worlds
Minority Report
Mission Impossible Franchise
Tropic Thunder

Diaz is very pretty to look at. more for the eye candy aspect. Jolie has been going downhill on the looks ever since she went on the Christian Bale 1 can of tuna per day diet. you can see her bones coming thru her skin in the Tourist. not attractive! she looked gorgeous with some meat on her few years ago.

That's what I'd like to know also.

Now that makes me wonder something: if Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is already this low how much lower will it go during Boxing Day?

One thing to note: if WMs copies don't have slipcovers you could always pick one up at FS or BB with a slipcover and get them to PM WMs price.

Sorry about the critique on KNIGHT AND DAY. I really shouldn't comment because I haven't seen the movie myself, but I have very low expectations since I picked it up on last week's Zellers price error.

Anyways, after reading this thread I decided to go back to Walmart (open 24 h now -- 24 h blu-ray store!). I saw a new row of $9.83 titles and took a picture. Unfortunately, there was a title I was going to ask you guys about, but the picture didn't turn out.

It is a 2-title BD with two horror titles with really long names. I have never heard of them, but was tempted due to the price. Dang, I forgot the names, but you can vaguely see them in the picture in the top right shelf and again in the 2nd from bottom right shelf.

Anyways, I have been looking for A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS on BD or DVD this week. None of the video stores in my city have it available for rent, but I saw it tonight at Walmart as part of a Peanuts Holiday BD bundle (3 movies) discounted to $36 (reg. $50 (!)).

Unfortunately, I didn't have my $5.00 off coupon which I got from Wendy's, so I will have to go back tomorrow to get my price adjusted to $31.

I know that you are probably questioning the need for A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS on BD (as was I), but the truth of the matter is that I have not seen the DVD bundle lately and I really have a hard time buying DVDs now when the BD option is available. Maybe I overpaid and no one else cares about Charlie Brown.

Good grief!
