Any of that stuff may be covered in the new documentary. I doubt anyone is going to spend anytime with Superman 4. I've read the novelization of Superman 4 that contains the extra scenes. It still doesn't help
New documentary? I had not heard about this.

And if you haven't had the pleasure of viewing the deleted scenes on the Superman IV DVD yet, you are missing a real treat. And by "treat", I mean a giant Golan/Globus abortion, with poor Christopher Reeve somehow trapped in the middle of it.

I watched a bit of Superman 4 the other night - the first in a long, long, long, time - 10+ yrs at least, if not more. I forgot just how bad this movie is. Even technically......the special effects got worse with each film, to downright laughable with 4. When Superman was flying, they only had one shot - him flying towards camera and that was it. I couldn't stop laughing!

The last time I saw it, I was a kid. Even then, at the paltry age of 7 or 8, I knew it sucked.

Jeff, going thur different UK and Germany upcoming blus, and I noticed that Bambi 2 is coming to Blu in Germany. What are the chances of Disney releasing this here in the states with Bambi?

Also in Germany they have The Secret of Nimh and animated film Anastasia, is this a good sign of us seeing it here? Thanks you for any info.

Yeah, Superman 4 is one of the WORST superhero films of all time. The bad special effects made it beyond horrid. Its a shame because it did actually have the potential to be halfway decent.

Lassetter hates the DTV sequels, if they haven't announced it by now it's probably not coming here

Fox/MGM has a habit of releasing international appeal titles overseas first to prevent importing. If they're out there they'll probably be here at some point during the year, or at the same time, April is outside the typical solicitation window.

Both Bill and I are a bit swamped right now for completely different reasons, so bear with us please.

On another note, it appears that the villians for Dark Knight Rises have been chosen and its NOTHING like anyone was anticipating.

Tom Hardy will play Bane, the man who broke Batman's back in the Knightfall saga

Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle aka Catwoman.

Apparently the reports of Dark Knight Rises following the Prey storyline were premature....

Keep in mind before over-reacting that she's only been announced as Selina Kyle. Not necessarily Catwoman. This changes it, because she may not actually appear in costume until the end of the film. They might do it right.

I fail to see why they would introduce Selina and then not have her progress to Catwoman. After all, it's Nolan's last Bat-film and it would not only be an incredible waste of time to introduce story threads with no pay-off but also a rather large slap in the face of fans. Having said that I don't think that will happen. Nolan and co have not disappointed yet, at least not in my opinion. I don't see any reason to think that he would start doing so now particularly coming off the strength of Inception.

I'm not a huge fan of Hathaway myself but Nolan has earned trust and respect in terms of quality casting (I'll forgive the obvious brain-fart he had the day Katie Holmes got cast ) and so I'll trust that he's seen something in her that will suit the role. Perhaps this performance might change my mind on her.

Everywhere is already awash with the "Hardy's too short to play Bane" comments. It might be handy if people relaxed for a moment and actually waited until we saw what Nolan and Hardy have created (or are going to create in this case). Nolan's characters may not have always been 100% faithful but they are often inspired choices. He's earned the right for people to have a little faith. That, plus I guess no one's ever heard of in-camera effects or, you know, a soapbox.

They'll have her progress, but if Bats chooses to retire by the end of the film (an obvious choice if they want to truly "end" the series), then Catwoman may replace him. Who knows? There's a myriad of possibilities with that character, and to say that there's only one way to properly do it would be totally misjudging Nolan and Co's creative abilities.

I really can't see how Anne Hathaway in my Batman movie can ever, in any way, be right.

But then again, how many people saw Heath Ledger as being the right choice for Joker?

I will honestly say that I STILL feel that Crispin Glover would have been a better choice.

For me, it's not a question of being right for the part, unless they have her in so much prosthetic make-up that I literally can't recognize her.

Absolutely, and I've seen some very good performances from her. I have little doubt she'll perform admirably in the film. For me, she just has so much off-screen celebrity baggage that I can't imagine not being pulled right out of the movie by her presence. There are many actors I feel this way about- she's just one of them.
