Go get the Errol Flynn movie. It's the only Robin Hood you need anyway

It's rather "of its era", but I've always had a spot for Robin and Marian.

Long long long shot, I know, but is there any indication that The Rocketeer will ever been seen again? Blu-ray would be nice, but at this point I'd settle for an anamorphic DVD.

I agree with you. No one does Robin Hood with more flair than Errol Flynn. The Blu-Ray looks fantastic and the special feature on Howard Hill is excellent.

Sorry, Rocketeer is one of those enthusiast titles. I'm sure it'll be out eventually but I don't think they're in any hurry. Maybe if Timothy Dalton's turn on Chuck raises his profile, or a miracle hits and people realize that he's the best James Bond we'll see something

Hey Jeff, sorry if I misunderstood your much earlier post... but did you mean I should remind you about Japanese SI releases after Feb 10th or March 10th?

Just remember, no promises. Many of the people I work with over there are on the music side

Ha! Even better, I grew up listening to (I still do) Japanese music. Case in point, I know some recently released concert dvds were shot in HD (at least 720p), why wouldn't they release them on BD? Too expensive? Not enough demand?

A great selling concert disc in Japan will move 12-15,000 copies. Sony is the only one that reguarly puts them out, though things are getting better. B'z just released a spread of their last few years. You're still only going to get the top tiers tho.

Who specifically are you looking for? If it's X Japan, there will be Blu-rays eventually of the new shows, but it's going to be when they're good and ready and not a minute sooner

Let me tell you, I was there for the taping of this, and the camera guy told me they were shooting HD. The sound in the venue was AMAZING, and while the DVD has good PCM stereo mix, it's nothing like the 96/24 wonderment it could have been

Anzen Chitai just released their new live dvd, and I so wish it was in BD... They were one of my fav bands growing up. My other favs from the 80's and 90's are X Japan, The Alfee, Luna Sea, Misato Watanabe, Boowy, Hotei Tomoyasu, Moritaka Chisato etc... by the way, Amuro Namie still looks very hot!!!

Luna Sea has a Blu of their reunion show from Avex, Alfee will get one at some point, even though they're ancient (still good tho). The older the act, the less likely they are to get Blu. Pretty sure Namie already has a blu as well (or she should soon)

Seriously? Alfee will get a BD at some point? Their music, especially those from the mid to late 80's, was great! What I cannot understand is their mixing... somehow their mixing almost always sounded crappy...

I just wish the new Anzen Chitai reunion concert they have just released would get a BD release... though I know it is very unlikely...

Yes, I also heard Luna Sea's Reboot show will get a BD release in March, I think, and yes again, Namie has a BD out already.

Any chance the new movie coming out will prompt Warner to release the never seen original opening to Superman Returns, with Clark in space exploring the remnants of Krypton? It cost a lot, and when it first came out they talked about including it in a possible IMAX rerelease (which obviously didn't happen). With Zona reporting a Blu megaset in the works, this sounds like a good opportunity.

I already asked the man who would know, though I'm expecting a repress of existing discs to be honest, with the new material added. I'm not expecting anything like that till the inevitable "Superman's Camera Can't Stop Racking The Framerate" reissue

So I take it that means no extended cut of Superman IV with Mark Pillow commentary and "Mark Pillow: Hollywood Icon" career retrospective, then.

You forgot "How are you taken seriously as a tough guy with the last name of "pillow"? "

Any of that stuff may be covered in the new documentary. I doubt anyone is going to spend anytime with Superman 4. I've read the novelization of Superman 4 that contains the extra scenes. It still doesn't help
