has anyone had it play without issue on a PS3? I only play single player games on it (Ico/SOTC collection right now ) so theres no big deal in me disconnecting, but I'd rather not hassle with it if I don't have to.

It's a possibility, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Because almost all of Malick's films have been given the Criterion treatment?
I have the Thin Blue Line and Days of Heaven
Would love to see Badlands make it and Tree of Life.

Those were catalog titles when Criterion released them.

The Tree of Life is a new film starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn. I doubt the studio wants to license it to Criterion and share the home video revenue, especially when the film didn't make back its budget in theaters. I wouldn't say never, though - Criterion might very well release it sometime down the road.

Badlands is a lot more likely to see a Criterion release.

its the sequel coming in 2016. supposedly about the existentialist thought regarding peace, rather than war. "why do we get along so well?...what is it in us that makes us want to hug our brother instead of stick a fork in his eye?..."

supposedly shows a dude in a peace corps who breaks away from all the peace and love to fulfill his need to do rampage killings, before the peace corps yanks him back

I know that Badlands has been mooted for a Criterion release for a while now, but Warner don't license, so surely even thats a no-go. I think that The New World is far more likely to be picked up by the big C, given that Malick's original cut of that film isn't even available on Blu-ray, although given that that film is now presumably with Warners, following the New Line situation I wouldn't bet on it.

Badlands will very likely come to Criterion in the next year or two. Warner gave Criterion some titles based on director's wishes, and Malick has a good relationship with Criterion, so its assumed that will be one of them.

Tree of Life might be picked up at some point, but the extras have to be mighty compelling for me to consider a double dip, especially when this release seemingly has perfect A/V. By the way, anyone get shipping notice from amazon yet?

which is ashame, since I know of a few WB titles I'd love Criterion to get a hold of - say... The Devils (talk about a movie that WB would love to shove under the rug)

Anyyyyday now. I'm sure whoever is reviewing this is watching it a few times to really soak it all in, so he or she can give The Tree of Life the review it deserves.
