You're missing the point. how much a movie costs is proportional to how much I want that movie in my collection. I'd pay more for a movie I love than for a movie I just liked.

I was at the Walmart superstore on Eglinton near Warden last night and saw a whole bunch of Lord Of The Rings extended edition Blu rays for $45.00.

both EXCELLENT titles and personal favs of mine.
+1, although I don't quite know if I'd say excellent. Both worth watching though.

RCSS has them for $5 on BD too, so an even better deal.

Still very disappointing, they're trying to get rid of the same BD "junk" that's been "on sale" for at least the last 4 Christmases lol. You know, the WB and other 25GB disc stuff with DD5.1 etc. For $8 too, used to be only $5. Also many of the better $8 BD titles were only $7 at the big summer sale. Christmas titles are jacked up even more, some that were high at $15 the other week are $19 today.

To be fair, I've noticed (e.g.) the amazons did the same thing on Monday for much BD/DVD product. Good business move though: the late shoppers (guys I bet...) have to pay more if they want it before Christmas.

I like Sphere. It's no Abyss, but at least it's anamorphic and on BD... Remember when an average DVD was ~$25? In those days, almost 10 years ago, Sphere was already anchoring the beginnings of what we now call the bargain bins. It has been continually cheap, it seems. Somebody must have taken a bath on it...

+1. you answered the question w/ exactly what i was going to say. I paid $20 for Captain America when it was released cuz i REALLY wanted to watch it again. Now Planet of the Apes or XMEN my limit is $10 for buying. not that their bad movies, i am just not in any rush to see them again.

It continues to sell though. At this point, I'm pretty sure it's more than made its investment back through video sales. The cost of printing DVDs and BDs are so cheap now that they still make money selling them at $5 or $8 a pop.

^ Thanks.

I'm going to hope that, like the last couple years, the best deals aren't advertised...

Walmart website has decent deals: Horrible Bosses $10, lots of Disney titles $10 each (Narnia, Pirates, Bedtime Stories, Race to Witch Mountain, etc), and many others if you don't mind $0.97 shipping. I guess there will be more deals in stores.

Was there any WAL-MARTS open today? If so, can anyone list the Blu-rays they had on boxing week specials that were not advertised and the cost for each? Thanks in advance.

That's not to bad. Nothing super spectacular like everyone hopes but not near as desolate as some have made it seem. People just expet boxing day to be a day where retailers hand out things for (nearly) free simply because of entitlement. Wonder what the kids in Siera Leone are doing this boxing day...

Not as good this year as last year but I did snag a few titles I've been keeping an eye out for:

Bull Durhan $7
The Mask - $7
Enchanted - $10
X-Men First class with cover - $15 (yeah, I know it was selling for $13 at BB)
The Man with the golden gun with cover - $5
Stardust - $7

I made a list based off the picture above, but no luck on Crank, Reservoir Dogs, Varsity Blues, or Usual Suspects.

But I got a decent haul.

All 4 Die Hard movies $7 each
Inglorious Basterds $7
Snatch $7
Curse of the Black Pearl $10
LOTR Trilogy $20
Harry Potter 6- $10
Harry Potter 7.2 $15

So I finished off my Potter collection, and started my POTC collection. The other POTC were $15 so no point, they're that price everyday...

Was going to hit RCSS too but I'm over budget this week already.

A ton of these Blu-rays were not available at my local Wal-Mart. Hopefully they'll add more in the next day or so.
