The blu-ray...definitely has issues. I held on to my Anchor Bay thx in spite of owning it - let's put it that way. Prime among the weirdness is the notably light (i.e. grey and "milky") black level, which is actually darker (and looks more proper to my eyes) on the dvd. Then there's the fact the HD image is on the extreme weak end as far as true HD goes (I believe this stems largely from the BD master being derived from a 35mm blow-up rather than original 16mm elements). There's an overall uptick in clarity/definition over the dvd, but in many places you'll truly strain to see it. Finally, the color scheme has been modified to a "cooler" one, quite drastically in places. That said, it's worth it for the extras. Just hang on to the thx dvd too. I also recommend to dial down the brightness (or whichever function controls black level on your set) a few notches when you watch the BD too.
