Default Why is the term "Blu-ray DVD" used?

I know this is a stupid question, but why do people call Blu-Ray discs Blu-Ray DVDs? To me that is like calling a DVD a DVD CD. This is just something that has been bothering me for the past couple months, I've been on this site pretty much daily for some time now and was too lazy to join and now that I saw another reference to Blu-Ray being referred to as a DVD I felt it necessary to speak up. To me it is almost as bad as www.theraider.net refering to the Indiana Jones IV Blu-Ray as Blue-Ray, after I e-mailed them they quickly changed it
