Talking "DEDICATED PLAYER" term created to just skew the numbers...?

well Scott has brought up the outlook on the recent claims of the HD DVD groups "dedicated player's " numbers. and he called it like it is...

Scott Hettrick @ Nov 28th, 2007 At 1:11 am says:
Bill, you're wrong and behind on your reading on several counts:

* HD DVD Propaganda Group did not break out the stand-alone versus Xbox 360 sales figures in their media release Tuesday, as I pointed out in a previous response to this post. Therein lies some of the deception. (Video Business has done some rough calculations, but that's as close as I've seen to a breakout and its unofficial.0

* This "dedicated player" term is an entirely new and manufactured form of reporting designed to do nothing but mislead and create an artificial measure that Blu-ray cannot compare to since they do not make a "dedicated" add-on drive, as I also pointed out in an earlier response. If they feel good about their sales of add-on drives and stand-alone players, why not just report them separately as they and everyone else have been doing for more than a year?

* If HD DVD starts parsing terms like this, it will open up a ridiculously unproductive can of worms, as one could argue that external Blu-ray computer disc drives and other devices are "dedicated players," as joeorc pointed out in a previous response to this post below.

There is no legitimate reason other than manipulation and distortion that HD DVD Propaganda Group suddenly came up with this terminology and hybrid calculation just in time for a post-Black Friday media release.
Let's just keep everything apples-to-apples.
