He then continues to pick up a very cute animated shoe with eyes and DIP IT INTO THAT STUFF. He MURDERS A CUTE LOOKING ANIMATED SHOE ON SCREEN. I almost cried watching it but to my credit, I was a lot younger. Nevertheless it still haunts me to this day that that innocent cute shoe was BURNED TO DEATH.
Oh, so pretty much the plot device that was stolen wholesale by the Rocky & Bullwinkle Movie? Gotcha.

I don't care if it was an in-joke, it's still terrifying!
Or at least it is to me, I was a kid when I saw this movie. I imagine you were already an adult so it wouldn't have had the same impact.

Now I need a memory refreshment, what happened in the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie that resembled this?

It's supposed to be. That means the movie did it's job. Hence, a few minutes later, when Roger is captured, you get that he's in danger. You can clobber a toon in the animated realm, they had to invent a method that brought mortal stakes to the life of the Toons. I thought it was a masterstroke, myself.

Roger Rabbit's only shoved under the rug by Disney because of this conversation, it is very dark and a but "naughty" compared to other animated fare. Granted I love it and I'm actually still waiting to get the DVD!

The DVD is altered -- in the theatrical release, the bathroom in ToonTown once included Michael Eisner's home phone number, and that was scrubbed even before the film came to VHS and laserdisc, and that's only the beginning of changes made to the film over subsequent releases.

Still, it's fun and comprehensive. I chuckle a bit at the historical errors made by Zemeckis in the commentary track (ported over from the laserdisc), but still fun.

So if this topic was started in January when the titles were up for pre-order... when were they announced? Specifically, when can we expect announcements on the 2013 titles that everyone seems to be hoping for at this point? Off the top of my head, Aladdin 2D and The Little Mermaid 3D are guaranteed... have any of the recent titles confirmed more for next year?

Roger Rabbit was a misfit toy for Disney from the beginning. Released under the Touchstone label, PG because of brief language, sexual humor and otherwise "non-Disney" content, and of course containing several non-Disney animated characters. I always saw it, even as a kid, as "outside" the normal Disney canon, though Ernest rightly points out the influence the film had on the so-called Renaissance.

Under the link I said that hunchback and the Spanish Aladdin are wrong

Oh, Saludos amigos and the three caballeros are just rumored from a Disney fanpage

If we are just talking about US releases, at this moment just Aladdin, Mermaid and Ralph are confirmed. There may be information about new releases in the upcoming Disney BDs (Pocahontas, Rescuers, Aristocats) but expect new announcements when Cinderella comes out in October. The Diamond editions always carry the new information regarding new releases so I'm expecting that in the Cinderella booklet we'll find some (if not all) the films that are going to come in 2013. After all, in the Lady and the Tramp release is that we found out about Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Aristcocats and The Rescuers/Down Under.

Yeah, not all but at least some of the "high" profile titles may be announced (Mulan, Robin Hood, Tarzan) while the "low" profile releases will just pop out of the blue (like The Great Mouse Detective) next year. And I hope Disney releases the same amount of films they release this year in 2013 (11 in total) so we can complete our collections faster

Any idea if "Prep and Landing" will be getting the Blu-ray treatment since the upcoming "Prep & Landing: Naughty VS. Nice" is hitting Blu this November?

I sent you a Private Message (PM) when you asked me. Usually you get email notifications if you receive a PM as well. Anyway, top right corner on any Blu-ray.com page, under your username, it reads Messages: Unread, Total.. click there
