I liked it as a kid but back in grammar school we'd watch it practically at every grade level each year. I last saw it several years ago at at revival showing and it felt like it hadn't aged well.

To each his own I guess.

Just curious, during the school showings was it guns or walkie talkies?

I love steelbooks but why do they have to be "exclusives" and thus hard to find?

So far, I own steelbooks of:

DOG SOLDIERS
TOTAL RECALL
JURASSIC PARK TRILOGY
SCARFACE
CAST AWAY
WALL-E
TX CHAINSAW MASSACRE
DEMONS/DEMONS 2

Might get JAWS and ET unless I have to import them.

That's because it's a pre-order right now. I can pretty much guarantee it'll be front and center in targets ad the week of release. They'd be stupid not to sell an exclusive like that in their stores and I've never heard of them ever doing an online exclusive only of a movie or tv series.

I thought the Cowboys & Aliens SB was only online?

It was, the difference is that it said "Target.com exclusive". E.T. just says "Target exclusive".

Probably guns. It was late 80's-early 90's ish.

I don't recall who shot first.

I thought the same thing about the Target exclusive Blu-Ray version of the last Twilight movie. One of the most popular movies of the year, they get an exclusive, and.... the blu-ray version was online only.

The only difference here is that I'm not seeing a separate DVD-only exclusive. But, it's still impossible to say at this point. They've done it at least twice that I know of (Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Cowboys and Aliens).

LOL! Hopefully nobody, or you might have bore witness to the ultra-violent cut of ET!

The only difference being, ET is catalog release with it's first appearance on BD, while Twilight/Cowboys & Aliens were new releases. So maybe that's why we're not seeing a dvd-only release of ET? It might exist, I have not checked.

Everything is ported over from discs 2 and 3 of the 3 disc edition.
Nothing from the 2002 disc is on there.

I might be answering my own question: but under that assumption and news, the 'Live' score accompaniment is not included either then... right?

That Target steelbook is sweet. Haven't seen this since I was a kid, looking forward to revisiting it after all this time.

I still want to see what the system says for an upcoming release (pick one) that we know will be in-store, for comparison. Anyway, here's what this guy posted in the deals section:

The DPCI is 246-29-0002 and when I type it into my inventory system using what is called a PDA or LPDA it tells me the item is NOT sold in Target stores and is an online item only.
This is the same message I got during the Cowboys and Aliens Steelbook.
I'm not saying this should make you jump but if the worst that happens is when you get it you dont like it and then you return it at your local store that's no too bad. This way your locked in to this version and if BB is better than return it.
Also the debit card or store credit card can BOTH be used online for the 5% off as well as the ANYTHING ships for free for all cardholders option with no minimum.
I hope that helps
