yep bring on a 20% discount, have them actually available in store, and I will definitely pick up Suspiria, The Leopard, Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me and Lost Highway.

Same for me too. Prices aren't adjusting when i put them in the cart.

Have you seen Lost Highway on BR yet? Curious to know what it sounds like.. I have the ancient Shock R4 DVD, the sound is so crappy you can barely hear what they are saying, but music/sound is way too high.
Maybe it was just my old TV I haven't watched it in a few years lol...

Unfortunately the review of Lost Highway doesn't say what I most want to know - how the Oz disc compares with the overseas releases.

And how do the extras compare with not only the overseas blu-rays, but with earlier DVD releases? Is there anything new? Is there anything missing.

I'm also interested in how the Oz blu-ray compares with overseas for Suspiria and The Leopard. I'll post my findings once I get around to doing the research.

And like nitin, I think that the 2 for 30 sale only becomes good value when (or if) it is combined with a 20% off sale.

I have the aussie lost highway disc and it is by no means spectacular as that review suggests. I would rate the video 3.5/5 overall. I'm happy with it though and I doubt it will ever look great but again, it's far from "spectacular".

I wonder what's up with this deal though, like everyone else, prices don't adjust when they're put in my cart. I'll probably just wait and see if a 20% off sale comes along while this one is going anyway. I'll be getting the Chronicle triple play steelbook and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me either way

The Aus Fire Walk With Me and Lost Highway are ports of the french MK2 discs, see the reviews on this site for the french discs. Video is above average, but a lot better than the dvd counterparts, sound is immensely better.

The Aus disc of The Leopard uses the new Scorsese restoration and although I havent seen it myself, reports are that it is better than the Criterion and UK discs in terms of video quality. Do a search for the french disc for screenies, the Italians also used the restoration but mucked up the colours. Since the french disc has forced subs, the Aus disc is meant to be the best video wise. Not sure about extras.

The Au Suspiria, well the hope is they have used the french transfer rather than the UK one, but without the forced french subs of the french disc.

And online prices dont adjust for me either.

The Italian release of Suspiria is contrast-boosted and ruins the PQ. I'm waiting for Blue Underground to release a good version.

Sadly, it seems that Blue Underground no longer has the rights to distribute Suspiria.

All versions on blu-ray will use the contrast-boosted digital restoration that is the Italian/UK releases.

Much like how Ecce Homo became Behold the Monkey, really.

Hmmm. I'm wondering if this is a new intentional business model for JB — to try to push business online? I've noticed (with my local JB shops, anyway) a lot of new releases are a much higher price on the shelf than on the website, and in the shop (sample of only one instance, so not definitive) they declined to match their own website price.

Anyone else experienced similar?

I gathered that, however not long ago (only a month) they changed their shipping charges from free to $0.99 for the whole order, and now it's $0.99c PER blu-ray? Unfortunately all they're doing is pushing me to order from other websites.

Exactly, it just puts me off from using their online services anymore if things stay the same.

Plus, I've been finding myself getting most of my new releases from Big W or Target instead of JB recently anyway.

I think they might be doing it to force more people into stores. They've already cut off online support. If you send them an email regarding an order you've made, you get the same automatic reply every time basically telling you to call your nearest store and have them sort it out for you. Their method is certainly effective, I won't be using their online service much anymore, if at all actually.

Prices of actual blu-rays are generally much cheaper from amazon US and UK and even with their shipping charges it works out better.

Should do. Till the 3rd I believe. I don't think they update their online site, might have to pop into a store and get it.

Years ago this happened to me, but now seeing as you have the option to order for a certain price online, but pick-up in store I am surprised they don't match their own price...

The reason given to me was that the JB HIFI online store was a different sort of entity, seperate from the chains. (Which was probably just BS made up by the lady on the day so she didn't have to manually adjust a price for me lol)

That part is true, it used to be that way. About 4 or 5 months back when they instituted the in-store pickup option the web site was updated. Prior to that it used to say something along the lines of overheads being lower etc as the reason for lower online prices etc. Now it reads:
Quote:
Prices of online items should match JB Hifi stores at all times. Occasionally there may be a time lapse between store prices synching with our online database and vice versa. Please drop us an email HERE. if you’ve seen any price difference between our online store and a bricks’n’mortar JB HIFI store. We will always match the price for you.
http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/Infor...ice-difference

So, they can NEVER say they won't match the price. Issue with a store? Print out the page or keep the link handy on your phone and show the staff member.

What's going on with the JB 2 for $30 sale? I haven't been to a store over the weekend and the website prices still don't adjust when you put them in your cart.
