3. Probably not, there's hardly any demand for it.

I did play the entire movie in Audio Description, but I didn't see any descriptions unless I was suppose to also turn on the subtitles - ?

Yes, I have 16:9 TV, but I thought movies that had the top and bottom black bars were the exact as you saw in the theater.

Descriptive audio tracks will actually have a voice telling you from the speakers stuff that is happening on screen. Think of it as something for blind people who can't see what is happening. They will need to know stuff like "Thor picks up his hammer."

It all depends on how the film was framed during production. 1.78:1 will fill a 16x9 screen completely (Avengers). 1.85 will have small bars on top and bottom. 2.35 will have big bars on top and bottom. With Blu-ray, you can almost always guarantee that you'll be getting what was shown in theatres exactly as it was shown there.

I decided to put up with the cut even though they treated us like morons by saying we must've seen an illusion

I got the Singapore steelbook, but i'm not opening them just to see 2 seconds.

There are no cuts. Just digital removal of the spear piercing shot.

Digital cut then

It's a cut because it got rid of something in the scene. It's akin to when they digitally remove the blood in Immortals etc.

US edition is the best to get for 3 reasons:
1. The spear tip wasn't digitally removed when it pierced Coulson
2. It had a few more bonus features
3. It has the proper title (The Avengers) instead of the ridiculous UK equivilent (Avengers Assemble)

As you can probably tell, I'm very happy with my US import, and the US Viva Metalpack.

So you are annoyed that it was cut. And you bought another copy that didn't have the cut but you will not open it because you don't want to see "2 seconds"?!

But Disney are treating people like "morons".

I double dipped because I wanted it for my collection. You're implying i'm a moron cause I won't open a steelbook that's not only a double dip, but one of the rarest Avengers steelbooks released.

I've got Avengers as part of the 6 movie set AND a 3D edition which was on offer, so why the hell would I bother opening the other?

I'm not a moron if you're still confused as to why I've got so many editions. The UK Avengers was dirt cheap with 20% off. I also got the US Viva metalpack with the correct title. The Singapore edition was the 3rd and came with a slipcover that's embossed on top of the steelbook with the correct title and ALL the extras.

I didn't previously have the movies on amaray for the rest. I'm keeping my steelbooks sealed for collection purposes.

I think that's what you'll have to realise about some of us, what we do doesn't seem logical to 'normal' people, but collectors like ourselves understand why we do it.

I myself bought 2 steelbooks of this film. The German steelbook and the Canadian VIVA metalpak. I love both and have the VIVA edition actually facing outwards and the other Marvel films spine out in my collection.
I myself wasnt bothered by the whole "Avengers Assemble" title, I know some people were. Sure, the "cut" was annoying but if you had blinked at the same time you might have missed it then aswell.

I'm a collector aswell (if I wasn't I don't think I would be on this forum).
But reading your original post without the extra info thats how it sounds.
You complained about an edition that had a cut on it. Rectified it by getting a correct edition and then said you wouldn't open it for 2 seconds scene.

On the previous page you wrote "I think knowing it was missing and seeing it, that really did disappoint me and i want it sorted out with a new release"

So can you see why I'm kinda confused by you stating that you would not open that release?

You also never mentioned that you had more versions then the stated 2 editions so how would I know how many you never opened?

You got a completely valid point there mate and I put my hands up and say sorry to confuse

Hopefully though, I meant in the future they'd rectify it by mastering a new release or something.

Almost too little too late for me but it would be nice, cause i'd pick it up when it's really cheap.

No worries mate.
I personally have tried to cut down on multiple versions of the same film but the Avengers were just to good to give up (saying that I bought the 2 newly released versions of Star Trek. Would hate to think whats coming up for us for the new ST film!).
Also I'm worried about how good the new Cap America and Thor could be and tempt me.

I'll probably double dip on the new releases, but I have a sneaking suspicion the prices are going to be VERY high. Play.com released Iron Man 1 & 2 for the ridiculously low price of £11.99 because they were catalogue releases.

Chavvi are probably going to scam us all wanting em and charge £19.99 at least
